ABSTRACT
This study looks into stage costume design for the musical < Lunatic >. I have been interested in designing the musical costumes and participated as costume design staff in the < Lunatic >, a musical presented in Theater Ⅰ located in Daehakro from June 28, 2005 to April 23, 2006, for this study. The costume design was conducted along with several processes ranges from script reading and the production meeting, to data collection and research, costumes chart and schedule arrangements, the design planning, sketching, and evaluation. After that, a rehearsal for the costumes was conducted to define any shortcomings and address them. As such, the costumes of the characters were designed with symbolism, ensuring extended function of musical costumes in making the audience better understand the underlying theme of the drama. Furthermore it maximizes visual effects of performance and outlines the image of characters, while adding spice to the drama and increasing dramatic perfection. Costumes are expected to enhance the audience`s interests in the mesical, eventually contributing to its development.

The effects of sensation seeking tendency on consumer purchasing behavior of natural dyed products

ABSTRACT
The purpose of this study was 1) to classify adult consumers into three groups according to their sensational seeking tendency 2)to identify the differences of the purchasing behavior of natural dyed products among the classified groups. 283 adults in Seoul participated in the survey. The data were analyzed using factor analysis, cluster analysis, χ2-test, one-way ANOVA. Three dimensions of sensational seeking tendency were identified by factor analysis. Based on these dimensions, adult consumers were classified into three clusters; high sensation seekers and change seekers showed the highest scores in fashion and aesthetic of clothing benefits. High sensation seekers appeared to have the highest scores in buying experience of natural dyed products among the groups. color is the reason of buying the natural dyed products. Saenghwal hanbok is the most frequently bought items usually as holiday gifts for family and friends. Indigo blue and geometric pattern were most preferred. The findings of this study demonstrate that consumers with different sensational seeking tendency have different buying patterns on natural dyed products. Marketing implications were being discussed.

Paradigm and Ornament effect in the Urban Architecture

ABSTRACT
This Study aims to explore the origin and function of patterns in aspect of semiology, and to derive the relativity of architectural material to ornament and characteristics of presentation affects with paradigm. Ornament of urban architecture may start with found imagery or iconography as raw cultural material. Its primary purpose is to render the invisible forces in contemporary culture visible. So that ornament becomes a contingent sign capable of generating an unlimited number of resonances at the best of times. It is through ornament that material transmits affects. Ornament is therefore necessary and inseparable from the object of building. Ornament that material and pattern is a composite one, made up of visible as well as invisible forces. Architecture needs mechanisms that allow it to become connected to culture, and achieve new images and concepts continually. A semantic approach, contemporary urban architectural environment communicate over a very wide field, united space and equivocality of boundary, and reflect the culture toward technology that gives newly shape through technical innovation. The study derives three classifications in presentation of ornament: (1) depth orders building components from the deepest to the thinnest (2) compositional material ordered from the most intrinsic to the interior content; (3) interplay between depth and material like differentiation and geometrical pattern.

Developing the New Product Design Process Based on the Flow Theory

ABSTRACT
The purpose of this research is to develop a methodological procedure for the new product design on the basis of the consumer psychology theory; that is, the flow theory. The research shows how designers evaluate alternative designs of new product ideas and select the best one based on the results of a consumer survey in which the consumer behavior theory is embedded. Specifically, in developing a new product, designers should consider the fact that consumers feel the highest level of positive feelings when their skill level and perception of challenge regarding the usage of the product fall within the same zone. The implications, limitations and future research directions are discussed.

ABSTRACT
Recently with the development of medical technologies and preventive medicine in Korea, the disease-related death rate is gradually falling down and technological in all areas of the society has improved living environment. At this rate Korea will enter into an aged society within 20 years. In this sense. changing requirement of interior design for the elderly will be made social issue in the near the future. It is urgently required to develop houses in consideration of the characteristics of the elderly so that they can lead more independent and comfortable housing life and particularly the supply of elderly housing is required for elders, who are avoided by the private sector. The Unit future having extracted basic directions for design from, which should be meticulously considered and reflected so as to make the Unit Dwelling function properly.

ABSTRACT
The modern social and cultural trend is that users themselves produce knowledge, participate in it, and share the knowledge. Under this circumstance, a new technology of visualizing information to help users have access to the knowledge easily and fast is attracting the industry`s interest. It is highly time to research creative navigation design that interaction with web 2.0 contents identity is considered. In addition, for the purpose of clarifying the principle of effective graphic navigation visualization of web 2.0 type, it is necessary to examine it from the viewpoint of meta communication theory in terms of interaction and users` emotion. Therefore, this paper intends to research the communication strategy based on humans` cognitional characteristics and on the theory of information visualization, and then, it will propose visual guidelines to apply the basic components and principle of visualization to the web media contents. This paper examined the type of linkography visualization in the web 2.0 contents from various viewpoints. Various visualization forms based on tag output and availability were considered for the analysis. Based on this research result, it will be possible to recognize that design-oriented approach and participation is very important in the realization of ideal future web navigation, and further that we need to continuously have interest in and make efforts for the realization of visualization of 2.0 information contents.

ABSTRACT
After World War II and during the 1960s, the buildup of industrialization took place and brought with it rapid economic growth and mass production. With it came rapid changes in society such as popularization in fashion and the bold appearance of a younger generation. Op Art and Pop Art had a lot of influence on fashion and there has been development of various textile design expression through the exploitation of synthetic fiber and its new composition that took place in the mid 20th century. Through the documentary records and the analysis of the art works, this study focuses on the development of the textile pattern design and the effectiveness of fancy colors and the motive of the diverse images that had a lot of influence in the 1960s as well as optical illusion which is the characteristic of the formative Op art which were to be applied to modern fashion. The development of artworks was done through simulation of computer graphics(2D,3D) and textile CAD and presented potentialities of the new concept textile design. Revitalization of creative design development by the national textile industry is expected through the continuos research of the textile pattern design.

Parallelism between Text and Image in Lewis Carroll`s Picture Book Series for Alice: Focused on Imagination

ABSTRACT
In the western society, children was conceived as a miniature adult throughout the Middle Ages. So literature that was originally intended for children hardly existed. Children were recognized as an independent being and children`s book as a teaching device were published under the influence of the rise of the middle class in the middle of the 18th century. In the 19th century, children`s book for pleasing and fun were introduced due to the revaluation of imaginative power and romanticism. Lewis Carroll wrote 《Alice`s Adventures in Wonderland》, 《Alice`s Adventures Under Ground》,《Through the Looking-Glass and What Alice Found There》, and《Nursery Alice》.《Alice`s Adventures in Wonderland》 is considered a landmark of fantasy picture book for the beginning of pleasure reading for children. There are linguistic, logical, scientific and pathological concepts with fantasy in `series for Alice`. Parallelism between Carroll`s text and Tenniel`s illustration in `series for Alice` did significant the role for developing imaginative power.
