Through reform and opening up, China began to introduce the concept of symbol mark while the symbol mark and logo type while the symbol mark and logo-type design of China keeps becoming international day by day. China`s problems about the design becoming westernized and social problems as an industrial manufacturer caused the Chinese government to take interest in design. Then, the Chinese government announced its policy for developing cultural tradition in all the realms including design. This thesis originates in wanting to find what is like China in the identity of Chinese enterprises and brands. Since the start of being like China can be found in tradition, actual condition of usage was analyzed on the subject of companies currently in application of traditional pattern to their symbol mark. Concrete analysis was derived through survey as to whether the enterprises in Nanluoguxiang are using China`s traditional pattern in their symbol mark and though the present condition and SMCR model to know in what fields it is used and what is the problem of the symbol mark used. In the thesis, the analyzed symbol mark became the theme of the cultural center, through the analysis of the deformation from the cultural center, the means of communication must be identified. Results of the study are as follows: First, the stores which use traditional patterns as a symbol mark are not in 35 out of the 290stores of Nanluoguxiang and it`s only 11 percent. according to the survey results, mainly in the field of crafts and art, catering fashion and groceries, the traditional patterns are being used. Second, about symbol mark there are a great of available Chinese traditional designs, but currently the plant patterns are commonly being used. Third, in order to know the problem of the symbol mark which used the traditional patten the conclusion was drawn through the research. After the awareness`s research(questionnaire) through the actual study and statistics, not only foreigner but also Chinese people definitely can`t know what is symbol traditionally used. And in the traditional patten FuGuiWanDai( ) is the most traditional and national. And the traditional patterns are used as what it is . The derivative and identifiability results appeared. Traditional patterns were creatively altered and it must be used to fit the modern sense. Through the thesis, because there is symbol mark design, in order to improve the competitiveness of Chinese symbol mark design and bland, it is expected that the useful information can be well used.

The purpose of this study was to develop the maternity wear designs in order to relieve the psychological stress caused by the pregnancy and childbirth. To achieve this, it was borrowed that Seo-Cheon flower garden of Jeju myth is the mythical space explained and dealt with the theoretical issue of human life, and was produced the first Saengbul flower that gave birth to human. In other words, first, it developed the textile pattern designs that materialized auspicious image through interpreting the mythical meaning (pregnancy, fecundity, prosperity etc.) - symbol as the shamanistic object including human wish or religious symbol in process of pattern contents using Saengbul flower - from a modern view using Saengbul flower in Seo-Cheon flower garden of Jeju Myth. Second, it produced and suggested the maternity wear designs inserted the textile patterns, i.e. shirts blouse + skirt, shirts blouse + pants, one-piece dress and blouse-cum-one-piece + pants. The main design point is to design A-line silhouette to add sufficient on the region of th chest and abdomen, and to design the style reflected stylish and activity. It used cotton, cotton mixed with 5 % spandex, silk, and materials printed the textile patterns implied mythical meaning by DTP. And to conclude, by suggesting the design inserted the textile patterns into maternity wear, it makes pregnant woman accept the symbolic meanings, effect of amulet, only used textile patterns.

Approaches to educational contents, formalities, and methods of spatial design has changed with social backgrounds or technological advancement, and in the modern times, due to development of computers and the Internet, there have occurred more changes, with which new educational methods have been tried, yet still short of comprehensive understanding on which direction the future space education should aim at. This study started out of this necessity, and its purpose is to grasp changes in the direction of researches related to spatial design, and to present the direction of future development with web linked design education. For this, the forgoing researches on space design was assorted by periods, and direction of the comprehensive changes via the content analysis method was analyzed. Based on its outcome, domestic space design education have shown changes in 4 items of `curriculum changes`, use of digital tools`, `use of the Web`, and `grafting new subjects`. The spatial design education has advanced from securing professionalism of space design, through field education reinforcement to integrative plan of theory and hands-on experience, while the use of digital tools from application of spatial design visualization to enlarged application through out the whole design process as well as suggestions on integrative plan in conjunction with analogue educational plan. Utilization of the Web that has recently developed empathizes a shift from unilateral transmission to bilateral, and the new subjects such as eco-friendliness, age-friendliness, and creativity is applied to the spatial design education. Web linked spatial design education in the future should be developed in such a direction.

Royal court dancing costumes in the Joseon Dynasty was very classy and splendid. Therefore documentary records, paintings and relics were used as research material to uncover the historical changes of jeonak, akgong, yeoryeong, donggi, mudong, and Cheoyong`s costumes. Next, design elements and characteristics were analyzed to adapt for Korean fashion design. Research analysis of the design elements, such as is as follows; harmony of tranquility and movement and the effect of overlap and slit are found. Second, contrast color of red and green and the color matching principle of the five cardinal colors are understood. Third, unique design characteristics is as follows; First, philosophical symbolism, cheonwonjibang and the five elements theory for example, is discovered in Cheoyong and mudong`s costumes. Second, experimental formative, such as decoration used plane and three-dimensional method simultaneously, is found in akgong`s costumes. Third, understated simplicity is observed in extremely refined jeonak and donggi`s costumes. The aesthetics of traditional costume and formative principle are suggested through further research. Establishment of identity of Korean design and development of unique design will be possible if follow-up study is accumulated.

The purpose of this survey study is to provide basic information for the construction of brassieres that are well-fitting and comfortable for the Korean and the American women in their 30s through the comparison and identification of their bra wearing behaviors, purchasing preferences, breast shapes, awareness of brassiere size and dissatisfaction factors of wearing bras. The question on the bra wearing behaviors revealed that the American women tend to wear bras more frequently and longer hours than the Korean women on a daily basis and prefer their bras to fit just right without any room to spare. For the expected benefits of wearing a bra, the responses, `making breasts look ample and natural` and `pushing breasts upward` were considered as the most important benefits of wearing bras by the Korean and the American women, respectively. For the questions on preferred bra types, molded bra cup, wired bra, normal width shoulder straps and side bands, and back hook closure were the most commonly selected bra component types among all respondents. In relation to back shapes, `U-shape` was the most preferred bra back shape by the American women, while `straight line`was the most preferred type among the Korean women. When asked about breast shapes, the largest number of Korean women perceived their breasts to be in `Conical` shape (38.71%), while most American women chose `SaggingⅠ`(47.17%) as their self-perceived breast shapes. As for bra size, 75A(23.46%) and 36C(11.32%) were the most common among the Korean and the American women, respectively. Most respondents from the both countries reported `wire` as the most uncomfortable part of bras. About 47.21% of the Korean respondents answered `size and fit` for the question concerning problems encountered after purchasing and wearing a bra, while about 66.98% of the American respondents found `uncomfortable` to be most problematic. The results of this study suggest that there are some aspects of bras that are needed to be improved in order to construct brassieres that are appreciated by consumers from the both countries.

The research aimed to develop the creative design process based on integrated scenario/prototyping model to analyze design problem from multiple viewpoints. Literature was reviewed on ontology, scenario model, and prototyping to develop the integrated scenario/prototyping model, and two case studies were conducted to both illustrate and evaluate the model. The design process based on the integrated model consists of four steps: The first step called < Data collection > is to collect data in terms of user, activity, object, and context based on ontology. The second step called < Problem Identification > is to create user profile model focused on the characteristics of a user, sequence model by activity interacting with objects, or context model by physical/social/cultural/ situational/temporal context by arranging data according to their attributes. The third step called < Problem Definition > is to provide relationships between scenarios or data attributes by using shared/opposed, radial, or hierarchical relation. The fourth step called < Concept Development > is to draw final design concept from the problem definition, and deliver the concept by making prototypes as well as concept scenarios. The design process based on integrated scenario/ prototyping model was applied to two case studies. In result, the process helped students identify design problem space in more structural and holistic way. And, the integrated model turned out to be flexible to be adapted to different types of projects by transforming the representation format. For better application and practical use of the scenario/prototyping model, the detailed guidelines for each step should be developed by conducting further research tests and evaluations.

In interactive motion graphics, unlike motion graphics in which messages are delivered unilaterally through media such as TV or film, communications take place through users` participation in media in which bilateral communications are possible, such as the Web and smart phone, so there is a difference in that interactions with users and connections with contents should be considered as part of the user interface. Thus, this study investigated the forms of interactive communications and the characteristics of motion graphics as a user interface element, presented considerations in designing interactive motion graphics centered around colors and graphical elements by connecting this with the usability theory based on preceding research and conducted a survey on the trend of interactive motion graphics and the areas of utilization through examples of using works awarded in international advertising festivals such as Cannes and Clio. As a result of the analysis, it was found that interface designs should attach importance to users` emotions and be designed with an interface in a form accompanied by visual effects that can provide with visual pleasure together and that they can be effectively used as a means to make the users to be immersed with storytelling through interactions. In addition, there are noticeable tendencies to pursue visually more natural motions, making it easy for them to recognize menu elements through layer effects and to consider natural and three-dimensional parts in producing motion graphics, breaking from the existing two-dimensional designs. These research results will be used as a material that can be referred to in the production of interactive motion graphics from the perspective of practice.

The purpose of this study is to verify it is possible to improve user convenience if furniture design employed in elderly group homes in Korea will be changed appropriately to the behavioral characteristics of the elderly living in them. The researchers first examined the definition of elderly group homes, the current status of the facilities in Korea, and the characteristics of space design. And they selected superior cases of furniture design in senior care facilities in Japan and examined the outline of design and also visited elderly care facilities in Korea and investigated the current status of furniture design precisely. Lastly, they comparatively analyzed the appropriateness of furniture design in the space of elderly group homes between Japan and Korea and verified the necessity to improve the environment and also suggested ways to enhance the design in it. In conclusion, the study has found the fact that the furniture being used in elderly care facilities in Korea is mostly the products not reflecting the characteristics of the users properly. And with the case study, the researchers have found that it is urgently needed to develop customized furniture design for the elderly getting care in them. Furthermore, the results of this paper can possibly be applied to developing furniture design appropriate for elderly group homes in Korea afterwards, and regarding that, more detailed follow-up research will have to be conducted.

Lately, many people in a modern society are interested in ripple effects of aging. Accordingly, enterprises are competing for putting up their new `Silver businesses` for seniors. On the other hand, domestic businesses have been considering that senior citizens are weak and mostly focused on developing health services and recovery so far. However, it is expected that there won`t be major health problems to a future senior generation in 2030. The reason is that medical services will be increasingly improved along with IT industry`s development. In addition, health cares for disease prevention will be strengthened annually. New seniors in aging societies not only maintain their physical youth, but also follow the trend to keep their psychological and spiritual youth. Therefore, we are about to analyze the effects that the development of IT industry and technology influences on our societies. In our oncoming senior market, we would like to investigate the way IT technology meets senior citizens` desires and suggests the concepts and service models of sustainable future communities. Through this process, We induced senior who has economic consumption capacity and, we about to predict new trend that makes economical and additional value creations.

At senior group homes, one of the elderly welfare facilities, they spend most of their time inside due to the senile disorders they suffer; however, as they are open for all in the same way, each individual`s needs or characteristics cannot be satisfied properly. This researcher has recognized the importance of interior environment welfare at senior group homes and necessity to improve their environment better and suggested fabric prop design as a way of improvement by figuring out the current status of the facility environment with its subjects of senior group homes and analyzing the problems based on that. Therefore, this study takes the following procedure: first, it conducts theoretical consideration through advanced research review and analysis on interior color or emotional design in consideration of the characteristics of the elderly. Second, it intends to examine living environment at senior group homes by conducting actual investigation on them and find out ways to improve the interior environment and respect each individual`s privacy. Third, based on advanced research review and analysis on the actual status of them, it suggests emotional fabric prop design. With the blue dye equipped with eco-friendly characteristics such as deodorant, heat-retaining, and insect-proof effects, the study suggests curtains that can be used in their private and also group living space. Suggesting this emotional fabric prop design, the researcher attempts to create pleasant environment as part of environmental improvement and provide better senior welfare at this point that we have entered aging society. Moreover, it is expected that this study will be used as material for living environment at senior group homes to be built afterwards.
