ABSTRACT
With the changes in distribution channel caused by the recessive local fashion market and the expanding global market, brand composition has changed, which again let to increased interest of the fashion industry in import and licensed-brand business by large companies. In this study, 3 import brands are selected for comparison / analysis of fashion product planning processes, with the goal of identifying strength / weakness and distinctive types of each brands.
The above product planning can be classified into information analysis development, design confirmation and production, sales strategy promotion stages. In information analysis stage, image management of the head office for the purposes of maintaining brand identity is very important and in production stage, smooth production supply and construction of production reaction system is needed and in the promotion stage, the priority is to use the integrated SI strategy for the enhancement of the image gentrification.
The characteristics of product planning classified according to the development types per brand can be summarized into three points. First type is the glocalization strategy which takes the domestic circumstances and global identity into consideration and the second is MD centered system that overcame production system and cultural conflicts, which are the limits of import brands, with efficient planning and management ability of the head office, and the third is designed focused process that strives for fashion pioneer image through sensible branding and image marketing. Via the analysis above, it is evident that the import brand has evolved into a planning system that compromises sensible, efficient aspects. This study seeks to assist the advancement of domestic fashion by suggesting data on global strategy for market settlement in global market entrance.

Reflections on Visual Communications Design in Terms of the Subconscious Imagination and Modern Thought
|
홍동식 Hong Dong-sik |
JEWNR 43(0) 53-62, 2014 |
ABSTRACT
Subconscious imagination presented the freedom of expression to artists and designers through the avant-garde. Also, the philosophy of modern France was placed as the most influential basis of thinking in the rather short history of visual design of around 100 years (depending on the perspectives, the introduction of lithography, the new printing technology, has been viewed as the starting point of the visual design). Based on these principles, rather than a simple image deployment, the visual design takes the role of a communication tool as its most fundamental purpose by emphasizing inner identity which is inaccessible by language and texts. This study will focus and contemplate on subconscious imagination and de-formal expression in the area of modern visual design, and will consider the tendency of vernacular design with anti-aestheticism. At the same time, this study will look into what possibilities the research method through de-formalistic modern Western philosophy may have. Particularly, the study will show how surrealistic thinking leading to the expansion of the subconscious and the unconscious and the expression of imagination through it have expanded the expression domain of the visual design. Through various interpretations and evaluations, this study will explore and discuss whether de-formalistic expression of the modern communication design is another struggle to break from the modernism or whether it encompasses any meaning as a new form derived from the post-modernism.

JEWNR 43(0) 63-72, 2014 |
ABSTRACT
For the qualitative improvement in life style, the interest on cultural contents has been expanded in Korea after her successful industrialization and economic development. Especially, one of the biggest issues is successful management of local festival using local cultural contents. `Light Festival` lightens the darkness of cities and forms beautiful night views. Being combined with some elements of Local Cultural Contents, `Light Festival` will promote local growth and improve the image of local community.
Although `Light Festival` is being magnified gradually, the academic studies on it are infrequently to be found, especially much harder on spatial features of it. Therefore, in this study, I will analyze corelation between Local Cultural contents and `Light Festival` and dissect meaningful spatial features into three elements.
First, theme is the one of the most important elements of spatial features on Light Festival. Theme highlights the local cultural contents of each community and links the communities and festivals. Second, Places also show the spatial features. The places for the festivals have strongly been associated with the community as landmarks. Third, Details are the last physical element showing the spatial features. Audiences have been led by physical exhibition objects, exhibition stages, and compartments of space. Various displays of light fixtures revalued Light Festival.
Theme, place, exhibition objects add value on the spatial feature of Light Festival and have strong correlation with local cultural contents. Festival will be a great help to community`s economic benefit and identity.

JEWNR 43(0) 95-104, 2014 |
ABSTRACT
Many manufacturing corporations, recently, consider change in the paradigm of safe and high productive working environment, abandoning the old notion of working place as production happens. The work places of manufacturing corporations serve not only as working spaces, but as resting places for workers. This notion implies work space interior planning of visual, emotional stability for workers. Establishment of environment improvement service system of synchronizing workers` psychological, physiological changes with working pattern through utilization of colors affecting human psychology is in necessity.
This study suggests color service design compatible to work environment of self-promoting autonomy. For the study, catapulting procedure of automobile manufacturing corporation H in Yong-Chon was selected. The study attempted to establish a guide-line of service design process through proceeding studies in service design and color psychology, and application of double diamond process. Working environment of catapulting process of corporation H was reported, and typological analysis process through the measure testing workers` behavioral psychology in terms of color emotion were conducted. JEWNR 43(0) 105-118, 2014 |
ABSTRACT
Biomimicry is a study where life phenomena in nature and working principles were analysed with the use of theoretical research on the ecological world, living creatures, scientific equipment, and advanced technology and the results are reflected in human lives with better living conditions. Thanks to this, we can have sustainable development through different viewpoints. So for sustainable architectural spaces, intensive research on the ecological world and its processes and the expressive strategies which can apply these results to a spatial environment should be developed. Therefore, this study explains the characteristics of the ecological world. Biomimicry architecture and design elements are presented through theoretical research on ecological architecture and biomimicry in design, as well as how to apply the developed design elements in real design through a case study.
Biomimicry in architecture and design, created through inspiration from the ecological world, has an ethical value to change our attitudes toward nature as well as a real value of being eco-friendly and a sustainable innovation in technology.
It is expected that this will provide direction for research on sustainable architecture and human life styles for the unknown future, and design and technology will be used as instruments for the symbiotic growth of humans and nature instead of instruments to satisfy human greed.
