ABSTRACT
We are living in the century of culture and digital age, and a lot of museums have come on the scene in a way that suits the digital age. Visitors to museum, however, feel somewhat strange to the way that museums merely put historic relics on display, not providing any interaction with visitors. Though museums are trying to create and provide various exhibition media and educational programs in an attempt to attract more visitors, it won`t last long because museums in Korea do not utilize appropriate medium very well though they try to think from the perspective of visitors. Visitors want to have fun and excitement when they go to museums, just like when they go to theme parks. In response to that, this study considers it more imperative to provide the pre-visit media that allows visitors to preview what are displayed in the museum, plan their line of traffic, and look for stories by themselves in the museum than researching the state-of-the art media of exhibition or spatial design. In this regard, this researcher selected the guide map as the subject of study, and hopes that this study would provide a basis for the research in the pre-visit media for which little analysis of data has been conducted so far.

JEWNR 16(0) 83-92, 2007 |
ABSTRACT
The word "hybrid" was born in the American society of the 1950s, but is now widely being used as a word implying something futuristic which has the characteristics of both the 20th and 21st centuries. In particular, "hybrid` is used frequently to indicate a new thing which is present now and futuristic as well. Therefore, its aspect was investigated by referring to works of some artists who actively produced works from the 1950s to 1990s by combining the concept of hybrid with formative art. The modern art, which began in the early 20th century, progressed quickly and had an effect on the academic arts since the Renaissance. Especially, scientific results during the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries influenced the field of arts. With this trend, scientific results came into a new type of art like the futurism throughout the 1920s and 1930s, and analogue tools spread among most artists throughout the 1940s and 1950s. Particularly, J. Tinguely, R. Horn, B. Nauman, R. Trockel. are the artists who produced works accompanying scientific technology which are new to the existing art forms. These artists works, which included analogue and digital technology instead of thorough handwork, are obviously hybrid. Not only in the 20th but also 21st century, the hybrid formative art will continue to be combined with new scientific trials.

JEWNR 16(0) 103-112, 2007 |
ABSTRACT
As the popular field of Information Technology develops, the shape of modern society`s museums also change. Through the emergence of various media, the display area is transforming, and also, the relationship between the spectator and the relics are changing. Therefore, modern museums are now equipped with display-systems that allow multi-sensual exhibition. Related to this reality, the importance of the experience display`s storytelling technique has increased, because of its role of unfolding the relationship between spectators and relics. This paper has made a comparative analysis of museums of the scientific field, comparing Samsung Children`s museum and Tokyo National Museum of Nature and Science based on their experience display`s storytelling structure. In the case of Samsung Children`s museum, although it has a structure allowing viewers to enjoy various experiences, it has a weak structure of storytelling, and thus has a weakness in terms of information delivery. On the other hand, the Tokyo National Museum of Nature and Science systematically classifies diverse information and provides a multi-sensual storytelling structure that allows viewers to experience close to real-life environments. This means that they have a far more organized structure in terms of bodily activities and acquiring information. Therefore, studies of storytelling will have to continue in order to make a indicator for the emanation of organized and creative thinking for future experience display.
