ABSTRACT
Background Various participatory interactive exhibits are being introduced in response to the expansions of the role of museums and of consumer expectations. However, these exhibits are experiencing limitations in communication due to the fact that the majority of them involve only a small number of participants at a time. This study explores the ways in which interactive exhibits can communicate more effectively with a wider range of audience by analyzing visitor engagement characteristics induced by different types of interactive exhibit presentations.
Methods Interactive exhibit presentations are classified, by which exhibits at the National Children’s Science Museum are analyzed. Representative presentation classifications are selected, and behavioral observations are conducted to deduce participation characteristics of the presentation types.
Result Active behaviors were observed more frequently for exhibits rated high in interaction level. Further, the number of indirect participants is found to increase as direct participants' active interaction behavior and exhibits' responses were shared audiovisual.
Conclusion Interactive exhibits can achieve a rich communication with a more diverse range of visitors by inducing higher levels of immersion from naturally participating behaviors of direct participants as well as by adopting presentation types that expose direct participants’ behaviors to peripheral visitors.

ABSTRACT
Background Minimalism, which quickly conveys the information and images of objects, refers to what has been expressed in a simple and concise way through basic elements, and can express people's inner feelings through minimalist style. Minimalism can feel strong vitality in the fact that it has expanded into various areas as it develops and is emerging in various forms, and there has certainly been an attempt of minimalism on the book cover. However, professional research limited to book covers was not actively conducted. Therefore, this study aims to study the minimal representation characteristics of how the expression properties are performed in order to design minimal book covers, and prepare basic data that can be used to produce minimal book covers.
Methods Based on statistical data submitted by Kyobo Bookstore, nine books with minimal expression were selected through a survey from among the humanities best-selling books published between 2010 and 2018 to analyze how the elements of visual design elements, typography, layout, image expression and color, are applied to book cover design. Based on this, the expression characteristics of minimalism in book cover design were derived.
Result According to a study on the link between minimalism and book cover design, the characteristics of minimalism are closely related to the function of book cover design. Through case analysis, the expression characteristics of minimalism in book cover design were organized into three categories: simplicity, clarity, moderation, and moderation.
Conclusion Minimal bookmark design has confirmed that the elements of minimalism are important requirements in book cover design and are inseparable from each other. To achieve the book cover function, the concept of book cover design is extracted to compress the content of book information delivery into a design concept of a single word, making it easier and more accurate to convey information to readers or consumers and to increase the motivation of books to buy, while simplicity in minimal book cover represents characteristics that are very well consistent with the creativity of book cover. Therefore, it is hoped that the audience will be able to focus their attention while inducing curiosity, and that the content recognition will be changed to a modern, sensuous expression, etc., which can be instantly.

JEWNR 66(0) 53-64, 2020 |
ABSTRACT
Background In this study, we want to conduct a comparative study on the differences in costumes of TV historical dramas based on the same period background, and we aim to draw design trends of TV historical dramas by categorizing the genres of TV historical dramas and collecting and analyzing cases of costumes for each drama and analyzing the differences between genres.
Methods First, a theoretical study was conducted on the classification of historical drama based on a literary review focusing on the book series, the preceding study, and the articles on and off line. Next, an empirical analysis was conducted based on the collection and analysis of visual and real-life data and the hands-on experience of a researcher who worked as a designer for a broadcasting station’s costume team.
Result In terms of form, both works followed the costumes in the Late 14th century Goryeo Dynasty and early Joseon Dynasty, but they were found to have attempted various changes in the form, color, material, design and jewelry of the costumes. In addition, orthodox historical drama ‘Jeong Do-jeon’was evaluated to reflect historical fact better than fusion historical drama ‘Six Flying Dragons’, which can be attributed to the importance of conveying historical facts and the fact that it is difficult to drastically change the traditional costume due to the nature of orthodox historical drama in which the actual figure is mainly featured.
Conclusion Attempts to produce clothes with high completion through such an appropriate modern interpretation will highlight the importance of TV historical drama costumes and contribute to making them recognized as independent works of art. Keyword

ABSTRACT
Background
Although there are many factors that provide information in the city, I would like to study the changes in the age of autographs that have a close influence on our lives such as public signs and commercial advertisements. This study summarizes the history of Korean autographs in 2019, 100 years after the provisional government was established in 1919. And The purpose of this study is to research and analyze the process of change and development of cause of death.
Methods The research method examines domestic signs and sign design-related books, thesis, academic papers, exhibitions and broadcast materials. In addition, research and analysis will be conducted by referring to Internet resources, various newspapers, and periodicals related to sign design. Before the modern period, it will be divided into the Choseon Dynasty to review the literature, and after the modern period, the study will be divided into the 1970s and the 1988 Olympics.
Result For the cause of our country, we collected and arranged the data from ancient times to the present. In recent years, the development of various technologies and the development of materials can make a sign in various ways and forms. In particular, since commercial products are mostly used for the promotion of products, the introduction of new techniques and the application of materials are considerably ahead of public signs.
Conclusion As a result of examining the history of Korean autographs, it has been installed to reflect foreign cases and systems. From ancient times to the present, we cannot find our own forms and features. Therefore, we must develop our own original and unique signs and make a sign system that matches our reality.

JEWNR 66(0) 105-116, 2020 |
ABSTRACT
Background Since designers are responsible for implementing the requirements of various environmental laws and policies in actual products and packaging outputs, designers can respond more effectively if they understand the regulations in detail. This study examines the impact of environmental regulations on package design through examples of the EPR system and Green-Dot program in Germany.
Methods This study was conducted in the following order and method. First, this study took a broad view of the environmental regulations of major countries to see which of the many environmental laws are particularly relevant to design. Second, this study examined the influence of regulation on design, especially focusing on the German EPR system and the Green Dot program, which is considered to be highly related to design.
Result According to the criteria of German Packaging Ordinance, packages are classified into three groups basically: transportation packaging, secondary packaging for distribution, and final packaging for sale. This study analyzed the package design cases which were changed to conform with the Packaging Ordinance by these three groups.
Conclusion The ERP scheme and the Green Dot program began nearly 30 years ago in Germany. The package design solutions conforming with the ordinance have since spread around the world and have become familiar to us. Now they look banal to us. However, looking into this topic from the perspective of design will give designers and design researchers the insight about the early history of sustainable design.
