A Study on the Exhibition Characteristics of Pottery Museums in Korea

ABSTRACT
Culture today is in the center of our daily life to make ordinary people understand and access to it easily by various attempts to understand the characteristics of the public and commune with them. As the increase of the cultural facilities where people can learn and experience within short distance, we are able to live more plentiful lives and experience various cultures.
The initial domestic museums were built under the leadership of Japanese. After the liberation, national and university museums played a role as a cultural education field which educates our history and tradition through the exhibits of relics and folk materials. Recently, there are appearances of specialized museums that deal with subject materials of various areas.
The subjects of museums are getting diversified like dealing with nostalgia of traditional culture, the appearance of new life style and high tech industry. The museums with new concepts started to appear because there were the increase of people`s interest and the desire of cultural satisfaction which pursues the emotional satisfaction as bringing the art into a part of the life.
In modern life, specialized museums which contain subdivided subjects in each area have been established and operated. From 1990s, the appearances of the museums which deal with specialized subjects have been remarkable, which is like natural history, folk life history, art, literature, science, animation, design, jewelry, automobile and dinosaur museums.
Domestic ceramics specialized museums reflect the local citizens` wills for promoting their own cultural superiority or historicity, vitalizing tourism industry, improving the local image and possessing cultural life. The main management strategies of those museums are to lead the interest into the culture and build the space for cultural experience.
In this study, we aim to investigate the characteristics of the museums according to the objectives of the foundation and analyze the exhibit tendency while focusing on the domestic specialized ceramics museums. Then we use the data for the prospect of the management strategies of the ceramics cultural exhibits and the directions in the future.

An Analysis of Successful Elements in Design Management as a Corporate Strategy

ABSTRACT
This paper is analyzed the successful fundamentals of design management strategy from case studies of corporates such as Kia motors, Samsung Anycall, Chungjungwon, Hyundai Card, Starbucks, and Sony. Design management contributes creating cultural life and concurrently achieving corporate purpose through new visions and value creations which is a combination of rationality and originality as interacting design area and management area. In addition, the indispensable of design management has been emerged nowadays. Design management in a business organization is extremely broad, and must be continuous with concrete data. Thus, it has to be divided a functional business form by a specific strategy and play an important role in the new partner to build an effective business model.
These case studies established the successful design strategy which is well structuring the systematic design-network and efficiently managing the brand image from analyzing the user`s needs and their life styles as an element of design management. This research is presented the mean of design management as a managing element to build a successful business model and proposed an appropriate application plan through the case studies.

An Effect on Customer Attitude and Purchase Intention of Soap Product Package Design - Focused on Soap Product-

ABSTRACT
This thesis aims at grasping what effect written language-centered, visual language-centered functional face cleaning soap package designs have on consumer attitude and purchase intention, and also at studying what effect consumer attitude has on purchase intention. This thesis will be used for a basic theoretical material in studying related to the development of package design in the future and will be helpful to the direction of package design.
This thesis performed an experiment for classwork hours of the students enrolled in the department of hotel & tourism and the department of nursing, kwandong University, Gangneung, Gangwondo from May 17, 2010 to May 19, 2010, the first one, and from October 13, 2010 to October 14, 2010, the second one. The total of 264 questionnaire was distributed, of which returned 255 ones were used for positive analysis.
The analysis result is as followings.
First, package design had a significant effect on consumer attitude.
Second, `written language-centered design` of package design had an effect on purchase intention, but `visual language-centered design` didn`t have a significant effect on purchase intention.
Third, consumer attitude on package design had a significant effect on purchase intention.

The Effects of Coffee House Image and Perceived Value on Customer Satisfaction, Repurchasing Intentions and Customer Switching Intentions

ABSTRACT
This thesis drew a sample, targeting on large-scale franchise coffee house (Starbucks, Coffeebean, Pascucci, Hollys, Tomntoms, Angelinus, Cafebene), located in our country, and considering on sales and store quantity. The important aims of this thesis are to look into what effect the perceived image values of coffee house which generates after purchase experiences have on customer satisfaction, repurchasing intention, and switching intention, and through the research result to offer suggestions for customer security and effective sales increase.
The result is as followings.
This thesis looked into the effect on recognized effect of coffee house, suggestion 1, and found that three factors such as `internal interior and coffee quality`, `price and convenience`, `access` had all positive effect. This thesis looked into the effect relationship between perceived values and customer satisfaction, suggestion 2, and found that they had a positive effect. This thesis looked into the effect relationship between perceived value and repurchasing intention, suggestion 3, and found, that they had a positive effect. This thesis looked into the effect relationship between perceived value and switching intention, suggestion 4, and found that they had a negative effect.

Analysis on the Trend and Present Condition of the Blockbuster Gallery Exhibition-Focussed on the Exhibitions Taking Place from 2007 to 2009-

ABSTRACT
The blockbuster type exhibition held all over the world has been rapidly spreading for the last half a century and established themselves as one form of cultural arts. They have encouraged the public to visit galleries by making it possible for them to appreciate the works of major artists belonging to famous museums and arts foundations in the west. And it has become the trend of cultural arts by providing exhibitions of various countries and histories.
The process of putting a blockbuster type exhibition on display is accompanied by the economic problems of paying immense expenses including works rental fee, shipping charge, and insurance as well as the detailed planning for a long period. Accordingly, a marketing strategy has become a requirement for a blockbuster type exhibition, and this form of exhibition along with the huge amount of capital investment has resulted in the commercialization of exhibition, and the aspect of exhibition prefers only popular major artist. The exhibition also has appeared which prefers the works by highly recognized popular artists and is assorted with a famous artist`s engravings and drawings. In addition, the exhibition structure has generalized where the press and a specialized agency plan and sponsor an exhibition, a gallery only lends a place. But galleries can get much support for their operation by holding a blockbuster type exhibition, and the public can enjoy a culture and leisure life through galleries by seeing works of famous artists without visiting galleries abroad.
The analysis into the distinctive exhibitions of a blockbuster form held in the major galleries in Korea from 2007 to 2009 - Deoksugung Gallery, National Museum of Contemporary Art, Korea, Seoul Museum of Art, and Hangaram Gallery, Seoul Arts Center - shows the characteristics of exhibition planning and trend in the exhibition culture and local galleries are also making efforts to plan good quality of exhibitions and attract visitors. It is true that the major galleries` exhibitions had the display theme which could easily attract the general public`s attention and guarantee success only a few years ago.
When exhibitions are planned, those of various artists and extensive materials: a design display, fashion design and photos, should be held as well as the works of similar western artists. To satisfy the public in terms of cultural pleasure is the duty of a gallery as a complex cultural facility. Keeping pace with the improved demand and level of visitors, either major galleries or local ones are expected to plan many exhibitions to convey the richness of life.

Clothing Consumption Value and Attitude toward Korean Fashion Brand according to Lifestyles of Chinese Female Consumers

ABSTRACT
China is attracting the world`s attention with its rapid economic growth. The quality of life is rising universally by the improvement of living level, and the lifestyle is changing as well. The purpose of this research was to segment Chinese female consumers by lifestyles, and to investigate the differences among the segmented groups in regard to clothing consumption value and attitudes toward Korean fashion brands. The subjects of the study were 20-30 years old women living in Beijing, China. The subjects were classified into three groups according to their lifestyles, which were brand/function-oriented group, fashion/ shopping group, and passive lifestyle group. The results showed that there were significant differences among the groups in regard to clothing consumption value, attitudes toward Korean fashion brands, brand loyalty, and information source.

Structural Law and Formal Characteristics of the Spiral Form

ABSTRACT
The study of the spiral form and sculpting is at the access to adaptability. To that end, the observations on abstract concepts, aesthetic characteristics, structural characteristics, and dynamic characteristics should be accompanied.
Through visual and structural forms of the spiral form, this study tries to grasp their relationship to identify and process concrete constituent elements. That is, it seeks to know the experience and expressive possibility of visual language of pure formal element and theory of the spiral form and to cultivate the creative forming ability.
Base on this study, it confirms that the spiral form as a formal element is foundation of every phenomena and constitutes a standard for balance and harmony. To sum it up:
The formal and structural law found in the spiral form is the formal variations of spirals and rolls. The study found the formal structure created by organic law of the spiral form and as its formal expression confirmed and reinterpreted movement, gradation, and change.

ABSTRACT
This article examines the expanded interactivity according to expanded interface, as the interested lie in the interaction between audience and art works in the field of interactive art. In orther to carry out this study, the synesthetic characteristics of the digital media and the physical body in interface were consider. Artists from Italy, Sonia Cillari`s art work < Sensitive to Pleasure > which was divided ambisonic cube, creature, electric impulse interface was analyzed in aspects of interface. And a corresponding expansion of the interaction characteristics were studied. Through this study, Interactivity in art works is expanding depending on the development of interface as pluralistic.

A Study on Advertisement based on the elements of public art

ABSTRACT
Advertisement and public art have a commonality of `publicity` each other. It reveals the close association between both when advertisement appropriates artistic style from art works and the opposition too. These two areas have characteristics that do not intersect each other. The message of advertisement is clearer than art, but art is so vague to analyze through only one point of view. However they have been developing and resembling each other. The trial to find out the connectivity between them is culturally valuable.
This paper focus on the juxtaposition between the advertisement and 1990`s a new genre public art. The specific keyword of a new genre public art is `participation` and `intervention.` And this paper analyze the examples of advertisements based on the elements of public art.

A Consideration on Transformation of Playground Equipment for Children within Large Scale Apartment Complexes & Advanced Cases - Focusing on the period between 1970 ~2010, Urban and Suburban areas

ABSTRACT
The apartment complex type was first introduced in Korea in the 1970s. These apartment complexes initially lacked quality playground space for children. Recently, however, there has been a growing concern for providing proper space and environment in which children can play and function. It is important that this space meet children`s emotional and physical needs as they grow.
This study aims to present basic data for creating the appropriate playground equipment and environment that will enhance children`s social, cognitive, and emotional development outside school. Research has been done - taking into consideration type, structure, and material for playground equipment- in order to offer suggestions for the future improvement of playgrounds within apartment complexes, in both urban and suburban areas.
For this research, first, a theoretical study was conducted to determine the correlation between playground equipment and play habits and preferences of children within their specific age groups.
Further research explored the improvements that had been made to the equipment and playground area from the 1970s until today. Apartment complexes where over 1,500 households resided were targeted for this research.
A comparative study was also conducted to examine the differences between playground equipment and area nationally and internationally. The results showed that was innovative and stimulated children`s imaginations. At times, the topographical features of play areas, for example near by woods, water, rocks, were exploited to provide a more natural environment in which children could play. Furthermore, recycled material was used for the construction of the play equipment and area.
In korea, as apartment complexes grow in size, more space is allocated for recreational activities. Therefore, plans to enlarge children`s playground areas have become feasible.
This paper offers an insight into the changes that equipment and the play environments underwent within a given period of time. It is, therefore, necessary to persue detailed follow-up research into the particulars of more innovative types of equipment and materials, suited to the landscape in Korea.
