A Link Between Theory and Practice of Environmental Design for Residential Facilities for the Elderly

ABSTRACT
The purpose of this study was to analyze the elements, which are employed in the process of designing facilities for the elderly, and then, to compare them with theories concerning environmental design. The framework for analysis includes four categories: two that compass more abstract, or theoretical aspects: a variety of theories on environmental designs for the elderly and behavioral concepts which can be witnessed in the environmental of elderly. there were also two categories, of a more concrete nature, that include border and more composite environmental elements such s layout, and more specifically, and detailed environmental elements such as walls or doors.
By making comparisons between theories on environmental design, which takes into consideration the typical problem of elderly, and satisfies their needs. Analysis of the relevant theories and actual facilities for elderly in advanced foreign countries will also help establish guidelines for designing such facilities which can meet the cultural characteristic and traditional conditions of Korea. A theoretical basics of environmental design for facilities for elderly will be able to serve as the elderly or environmental design in general.

A Study on the Development of Digital Textbook for Art Appreciation Education

ABSTRACT
The purpose of this study was to suggest how to develop the platform of a digital art appreciation textbook by introducing a spatial concept of an art museum in an effort to provide appreciation education by utilizing a virtual experience space.
Traditionally, art education has been conducted by focusing on appreciating and experiencing in some uniform spaces like an art gallery, museum and movie theater. Such a conventional awareness of art spaces made it possible to construct the platform of a digital textbook in a more natural and organic manner. In this study, a digital textbook platform was suggested by introducing a new learning strategy and visual experience conception in a move to heighten virtual experience and learning immersion.
There has lately been a growing concern and demand for art works, and art appreciation that had just been viewed as the sphere of experts draws growing public attention. This study is expected to serve as an opportunity to respond to such a social need and have a better understanding of mankind and diverse human culture.

ABSTRACT
For the contemporaries, a cycle of life style is gradually becoming short and complicated, owing to fast advancement of technology and fashion information of fast moving. With the appearance of new paradigm, and as we are entering into the era of digital information, the pattern of modern society is being converted to the society of digital nomad. This means that though divers networks we can freely visit here and there in an ubiquitous environment that we can connect any time and any where. Accordingly, modern peoples do not live only in one fixed place but in many places by managing a nomadic life in sentimental desires. They create new values escaping from given system of truth and it`s code. And they are actually managing a nomadic life style, endlessly moving around new areas, like that, keeping nomadic existence and nomadic way of thinking.
In modern fashion and Interior, the ecology pursues a tendency of naturalism, primitivism, and an ethnic trend and convenience. Moreover, it keeps characteristic of an additional value of friendly relationship with environment, which is focused on natural materials. This Eco-Nomadism of ecological characteristic means a life of new nomad who feels the nature in the city and a free life style of camping that one experiences in the modern city. We can define it as really free life that is enjoying revolutionary nomadism in compromised environment.
In this study, we have defined characteristic of nomadism as one sort of new trend of our society. Free thinking and free moving that they are aiming return to the ecological nature, and recovery of humanity, this is the very figure of nomadism. Also, through analysis of modern textile, we could found that eco-nomadism is expressed as vintage style which reflects free and liberal state of recycling sense and as enjoyable kitsch style which has an inclination of escape from reality, dreaming an utopia. This facts act as an important points with which we could enlarge methods and scope of creative design development.
From now on, eco-nomadism shall have the meaning of social and cultural as spiritual outcome of mankind, which has free vision and lives in base of creativity. In modern city life which is changing every moment in various way, this will be applied on modern textile pattern as one of life styles, that every person wishes to be individually cured from artificial and materialistic life and to live with the nature as life style of coexistence. Moreover, eco-nomadism shall provide a chance that we can expect new idea and new unique design, giving new direction of modern textile. When we consider these facts, it is preferable to set and form eco-nomadism as a design form of new era combining with positive values and sensitivity rather than accepting it only as one type of trend. This is the task of modern textile.

Characteristics and Visual Communication Constituent Elements by Brand Identity Type of Newspaper Advertisement

ABSTRACT
The subject of this study is how to make theoretical background of brand identity strategy and strategy method wished to know effective brand identity strategy through visual communication constituent element of newspaper advertisement content analysis among components of brand identity.
The results of the study summarizes like this:
First, characteristics by type of brand identity that appear in newspaper advertisement is recognizing brand identity by product high in advertisement that consumers display contents introduction or characteristic of product itself and brand identity as symbol appeared very low. Also, constituent of brand identity as organization and culture appeared as is not high on the whole.
Second, that visual communication constituent elements of advertisement is expressed by some difference according to type of brand identity among newspaper advertisement visual communication constituent elements, slogan forms, appear much in identity as culture. As symbol, appeared low in brand identity, brand identity as product, brand identity as personality. Appeared as elements that appear in newspaper advertisement visual communication constituent elements of character are not high on the whole.
Logotype is appearing mostly high in type of all brand identities and symbol appeared low. and appeared high in brand identity as system, culture, but appeared a little low in remainder type.
Celebrity model is appearing much in newspaper advertisement in expressed advertisement model by brand identity type. and endorser model does endorser of field connected with product or service of advertisement.
Appeared mostly low by method that give authoritativeness of advertisement. also, general people model appeared too mostly low.
Finally, the results of this study will provide the direction of brand strategy method wished to know effective brand identity strategy by v isual communication constituent elements of newspaper advertisement content analysis among components of brand identity.

Illustration through Primitive Art

ABSTRACT
In the 21st century, culture has advanced and improved rapidly into the wave of information and high-tech media. People today live in an era that is highly complex, mechanized, and fast-paced. However, people seek simplicity in their minds. The origin of cave paintings of the primitive age which is thought to be the beginning of such illustration was examined. Through its concept and comprehension, a new territory should be established by searching the possibility of simple patterns and modern expression with geometric images and colors that cannot be seen through the naked eye. It is vital to visualize sentiments or ideas through interrelationship between historical significance of illustration described by the general public and the primitive concept. The seven works presented in this thesis adapted various images and details of primitive art such as body decorations, mask decorations, architectural decorations and etc. I also have emphasized the primitiveness through analysis of representation of worn-out and faded colors, barren earth color, the color of the desert, the color of a rusted steel and etc. Those colors are analyzed by using primary colors like red, yellow and green. Through the exploitation of illustration with colors, as a decorative element and symbolical patterns of primitive art, I hope to stimulate ecologic sentiment of pure and primitive senses in the world of scientifically civilized and complex modern life and satisfy the needs of modern people.

A Study on the cellular-phone usage of teenagers by the ZMET

ABSTRACT
This study focuses on teenager`s recognition of a cellular-phone`s usage and that is related in design of cellular-phone by the ZMET, an in-depth interview technique for metaphor.
The results of the study are as follows. First, it appears to teenagers that their recognition of cellular-phone`s usage is dimension of social, emotion, relation, instrument. Dimension of social has the core concept of fashion and design, dimension of emotion has the core concept of an intimate friend or an obstacle, dimension of relation has the core concept of management of image and communication, and dimension of instrument has the core concept of mobility and in common.
Second, the dimension of relation to design are social and emotion. The social dimension has the construct concept of fashion, mine, an external form, personality, ostentation. The emotional dimension has the construct concept of an intimate friend, a treasure, a puppy, a comic book.
The construct concepts are able to make full use of design of a new product and communication strategy.

ABSTRACT
With the recent increase in mankind`s interest in the importance of the environment, many projects related to environmental preservation are being implemented and numerous design results from these projects are being presented. But many projects terminate as a one-time event and, even in economic terms, often lead to losses.
In the case of endangered species restoration project, which require continued persistence and nationwide transformation of people`s awareness, there is a need to move away from a simple identity program that ends as a one-time event and to develop a project identity program based on an open system concept allowing continuous application of the system tailored to given situations.
Based on examples of endangered species restoration projects, this study presents the direction and the plan for actual application of an effective project identity as a public communications tool.

A Study on the aspects of modern ceramics regarding with Art Nouveau of Europe and Korea

ABSTRACT
Looking into the history of ceramic arts finally means dealing with the history of human life. That is, it means we have to understand the ceramic arts of human history as well as country, race and region multilaterally.
In order to properly know culture of ceramic arts regarded as a standard unit of contemporary culture, we need to understand political, economical, social, cultural, regional characteristics and the current of the times.
Therefore, the understanding of ceramic arts should be conducted in point of view based on regional and periodic characteristics. Art Nouveau movement at least theoretically has played a role in `countermovement` or `obstructer` which helped to grow rapidly since 1918 and throw away obsolete customs of 19th century society. In this point of view, Art Nouveau has occupied such an important position though it is not a historical mainstream. Around 20th century, the revolution of ceramic arts is breaking out silently than most of other decorative arts.
Modern age was the time when feudal society changed into civil society and production system of handicraft into that of mass mechanized simultaneously due to the industrial revolution in Western society.
At this side, I want to study ceramic arts of former period of 19th century profoundly, with Art Nouveau ceramic and ceramic arts as central figures.
