A Study on Human-Robot's Emotional Communication through the Movement of the Eye of a Social Robot

ABSTRACT
Background As the robot changes into an environment that makes it difficult to see the robot in everyday life, there is an increasing interest in HRI. Therefore, research on emotional interactions in communication between social robot and humans is actively conducted. In this study, emotional communication in HRI can be achieved through the movement of the pupil of the social robot. In other words, we will investigate the possibility of the social robot's eyes as the main mediator of emotional communication.
Methods The movement of the pupil of the social robot has emotions, and the user can recognize the intention of the robot and see if there is a difference in user preference according to the combination of components derived for the emotional pupil. For this purpose, the emotional pupil prototype was created based on Type A and Type B images of the existing social robot, and each pupil was derived from the feelings of joy, sorrow, and surprise defined by Ekman 's FACS (1977).
Result Type A had no difficulty in feeling the robot's intended emotion than Type B. This suggests that the combination of the pupil elements of Type B is due to the difficulty of conveying clear emotions. However, both Type A and Type B were found to be preferred in each type of preference survey. This result shows that there is a positive reaction to emotional communication through the eyes.
Conclusion As social robots can not exclude social relations with humans, mutual exchanges and human experiences through robots are important. Unlike the past, which is centered on industrial robots, the growth of the social robot market is likely to increase the use of emotional communication.

A Case Study of Screen-based Web & App Design System and Artificial Intelligence-based design software

ABSTRACT
Background The development of artificial intelligence has brought about new changes in society, and artificial intelligence technology has recently been tried in the field of design. Especially, in the field of web & app design, the use of design software applying artificial intelligence technology is increasing. In this study, based on the structure of the design system used in web & app design field, the present status and characteristics of artificial intelligence based design software are summarized.
Methods Through the literature survey, we have summarized the design system structure used in the web & app design field and classified the artificial intelligence based design software according to each structure and analyzed the characteristics by case.
Result Analysis of three representative methodologies of the design system can be divided into four stages: style guide, component, template, and page. Based on this analysis, we analyzed characteristics of cases of artificial intelligence - based design software and found that features of artificial intelligence - based design software are different according to the purpose of each stage.
Conclusion Artificial intelligence based design software plays a supporting role in assisting users in the design process, which can be used efficiently in repetitive design work. However, since the scope of operation is limited, continuous research is required to obtain various high level design results. .

A Study on the Conceptual Expansion of Way-finding as Public Art - Focusing on the Case of Bath Way-finding System Design -

ABSTRACT
Background Way-finding was considered as a very basic functional structure that made it easy to find the way in a place However, the study has started from an recent idea that way-finding system is thought to be expanded to public art in terms of public space vitalization, professional design in city landscape, and consideration for residents and communities.
Methods First of all, the study clarifies the conceptual change and expansion in the way-finding system and public art through theoretical consideration. Secondly, the conceptual features of public art were divided into four criteria for the case analysis. ‘Bath City Information System’ was selected as a recognizable case based on published reports and media presentations.
Conclusion In Bath case, some features were found that correspond to the concept of public art. First of all, it could be promoted to vitalize public places. Secondly, it was also recognized that as part of the urban design, the connectization of public spaces was led. and that professional designers participated in a wider range of public facilities. Thirdly, Bath case also has features that reflect the opinions of the residents in the process of community activities and progress. To sum up, way-finding system can also be discussed in the scope of public art, so it is very likely that the mutual concept will be expanded.

Proposal of Product, Service, System Design Process and Methods for Finding Business using New Technology - Focus on Biometrics Technology -

ABSTRACT
Background Creating the design business by utilizing key technologies of the 4th Industrial Revolution is important in terms of finding the future growth engine of Korea. Biometrics technology has been evaluated as one of the core technologies and has been spreading widely in our daily lives. Therefore, the goal of this study is to propose a process and method for product, service, and system design that can create new business using new technology in case of biometric technology.
Methods Based on literature review, the existing design process and methods are categorized, the basic framework is organized with them. 'User-centered technology evaluation' for analyzing new technologies such as biometrics, and 'Business model building' for linking the proposed design concept to the business viewpoint are proposed. Expert evaluation, design concept proposed for 3 years, and Ez-Finger, which was commercialized, were used to modify and elaborate the design process and method.
Result The design process consisted of M1 to M15 design methods on the axes of marketing-design-technology. By attaching biometrics as a new technology example, the proposed process can be easily referenced by organizations and companies developing designs using new technologies.
Conclusion The result of this research suggests a process and methods that enables the collaboration between marketing - design - technology to discover the business opportunities by exploring the user value needed for product, service and system design development using new technology. Therefore, the proposed process is expected to be useful for organizations and companies that need to create a business by linking the usefulness of new technology with user value.

A Case Study of AI-Driven Generative Logo Design - Compared with the Traditional Logo Design Production -

ABSTRACT
Background Artificial intelligence technology has been applied in many parts of society and has caused many changes in the field. Artificial intelligence technology has been influential in art and design fields where human inspiration and creativity are important, and artificial intelligence has started to take part of the role of designers. The range of AI applications is expanding, including articles produced by artificial intelligence robots, and artifacts produced by Adobe Sensei, which replaces the repetitive tasks of existing designers. In this situation, we will redefine the designer role and design process in the era of the AI development based on the AI based generative logo design case study.
Methods AI - based logistic production website was investigated, and the process with traditional production method was compared and analyzed. The process of logo production is analyzed by applying the double diamond model which is frequently used in design thinking, and the typical traditional logo production methods and processes are summarized based on the literature survey. The AI-based logo production process visits the corresponding website Step-by-step procedures are summarized. In order to judge the degree of difficulty of AI-based logo production and the completion of the design result at the level of the beginner designer, we conducted the questionnaire to students in visual design department and 2nd and 3rd grade students and obtained the results. And the contents were summarized.
Result The AI-based generative logo creation site has advantages in terms of convenience and efficiency, but it has disadvantages in design similarity due to insufficient data sets and poor design completeness. Based on the questionnaire results of the AI based logo production site and the questionnaire participant, it was found that the difficulty of use was generally easy, and the logo design result was also evaluated as the satisfaction of the general or general satisfaction. This proved that entry-level designers could easily and quickly use the AI-based logo creation tools. However, the beginner designers who have little experience in symbolizing detail of design completeness and superstructure responded that it is difficult to make decision and execution process in comparison with design expert when selecting security after logos and final editing.
Conclusion The AI-based logo creation site omitting the step of deriving the brand essence corresponding to the survey and analysis should be used in a limited situation. In order to collaborate with AI at the stage corresponding to the Discover, a researcher You have to worry.

Background Modern wedding dress styles are highly conservative, with no drastic changes, but traditionally defined stereotyped aesthetic values are transforming into original and individual images, reflecting fashion trends. The purpose of this study is to develop creative design of wedding dresses according to the changes in fashion trends, inspired by overseas wedding dress designers.
Methods Based on the previous research papers, domestic and foreign fashion magazines, books, and Internet site materials, this study is to examine the types and components of wedding dress designs and develop a unique wedding dress design, which has practice uses in modern days.
Result As a result of the production of the wedding dress, there is no doubt that contemporary wedding dress style will continue to change with the social change and standards of beauty and as humans will seek deeper meanings of beauty.
Conclusion It is vital that wedding dress designers realize the importance of individuality and the fulfillment of one’s desire and offer a new lifestyle rather than simply trying to meet the consumers’needs.
