ABSTRACT
Background Although New-tro is a trend that is attracting attention from all over the world, there are few papers that combine New-tro with fashion. This study analyzed the trend of New-tro design expressed in various fashion brands. Analyzing new-tro trends seems to be very relevant to current timeliness, creative, and helpful for marketing in the fashion industry.
Methods For theoretical studies on fashion trends, New-tro, vintage fashion, and Ugly fashion, literature studies including the latest newspaper articles, magazines, and domestic papers were conducted. This study examined the trends of New-tro design in luxury brands, sports brands, and street brands.
Result The new-tro trend of design from luxury brands (Prada, Gucci, Burberry, Balenciaga, Fendi), sports brands (Fila, New-Balance, Umbro, MLB, Ellesse) and street brands (Supreme, Off-white, Tommy Hilfiger, Vetements, Nerdy) is big logos, neon colors, tie-dye, wide pants and ugly shoes.
Conclusion The new-tro trend of design can be revived by fashion brands that used to be popular in the past but are now ignored by consumers. In addition, it is a trend that can be loved by fashion brands that are currently popular. The fashion industry will need to leverage New-tro's marketing strategy to deliver new consumer experiences with current interpretations targeting millennials and later Z-generation.

JEWNR 67(0) 19-28, 2020 |
ABSTRACT
Background During the textile production process, the dyeing process has a direct adverse effect on water quality and soil due to the use of chemical dyes and syringes. Accordingly, research and technology development on eco-friendly dyeing methods are steadily taking place, and natural dyeing as one of the alternatives is drawing attention. In 2008, a technique called echo printing was devised by Australian dyeing craftsman India Flint, and with the new technique, the intrinsic spiritual value has the meaning of eco-friendly design in a pure sense. But at home, they focus on borrowing techniques and import and use raw materials, which are somewhat distant from echo printing in the aforementioned true sense. Thus, this research was conducted based on the fact that the results of focusing only on the external value of the eco-printing technique were recognized and that the domestic ecocorting was desirable only when domestic plants were used.
Methods First, through prior research and literature research, the eco-printing is investigated and the period and environmental significance and meaning of eco-printing is discussed.
Second, research on the current situation of domestic econ-routing and recognize problems and promote the need for this research.
Finally, as a way to improve the problem of domestic eco-printing, we will conduct eco-printing using domestic plants and present the potential as an eco-printing material for domestic plants through the results.
Samples worked in the same process as traditional eco-printing methods, using pine trees, the country's largest water species, cherry trees, and acacia leaves, which are commonly available around the researchers' residences.
Result The echo-printing results of cherry and giant oak trees showed brown colors. Pine leaves showed a light imprint only on the woolen fabric, but it is thought to be difficult to recognize them as a significant result, making them appear to be a specimen unfit for echo printing. Acacia tree leaves were imprinted with a green pigment, which is expected to change color in the future depending on the use of the syringes.
Conclusion Through this study, we explored ways and possibilities for the real value and meaning of eco-printing being implemented in Korea. We also hope that this study will lead to the discovery of various domestic materials for eco-printing, follow-up research on application and commercialization of products, and encourage discussion of various design methodologies that focus on non-material aspects, mentality and intrinsic value for the pursuit of true sustainability.

ABSTRACT
Background Virtual exhibitions are providing artistic experiences within the virtual environment. However, the low usability can hinder the visitor’s immersive experience. Therefore, this study aims to clarify VR heuristics for interface usability of virtual exhibitions and to analysis the existing VR exhibitions with further discussion and suggestions.
Methods This study focused on the immersive VR exhibitions provided by the Oculus Go store. Among total forty-seven applications including free and paid, twelve applications were selected meeting minimum requirements, and five applications were chosen for case study, which showed higher interaction, communication and immersion level than average. For the assessment, VR heuristic evaluation referring to the previous study by Sutcliffe & Gault (2004) was redefined and applied.
Result The applications with higher usability, which are Art Plunge, Our Dinosaur Era and The Kremer Collection VR Museum, were initially planned by 3D rendering, whereas other two applications with lower usability, which are We are Nature and MOCA: Kerry James Marshall, were created through image scanning based on existing real exhibitions. In addition, multi-modal interfaces and visual cues for affordance were critical factors in usability.
Conclusion The suggestions of the study are as follows: 1) the consideration of user-centred spatial design and perspective 2) interface design to reduce the frequency of trigger manipulation 3) the provision of the map view and the delivery of synesthesia information suitable for virtual reality. In designing immersive virtual exhibitions, the reproduction of the physical space is necessary; however, providing the natural flow to focus its exhibition contents is the first priority.

|
김선영 Kim Sun Young |
JEWNR 67(0) 79-92, 2020 |
ABSTRACT
Background Fashion photograph sets up a discursive field about feminine image, not to mention manifold visual image as an independent art genre. The purpose of this study is to analyze the feminine images presented on editorial fashion photograph by Steven Klein and help to extend this discursive field about modern fashion photographs and female images.
Methods Literature review and case study were both used as research method. First, review was taken on concept and characteristics about fashion photo, fashion photo and female image, and Steven Klein's artwork world. Second, in case study, female images were classified according to type confined to Klein's editorial fashion photographs and then analysis was followed about visual expression characteristics and meanings based on work theme, atmosphere, model's pose, look, and position, clothing and styling.
Result Female image types given in Steven Klein's fashion photograph were broken down into representation, deconstruction, and overturning of traditional female image. Representation of conventional female image was featured as stereotyped role play of sex, voyeurism peeped by male gender and emphasis on sexuality, and subordinated feminine image in the form of bondage and restraint. Deconstruction of traditional female image appeared as escape from standardized female gender image expressed in ambiguous sexual identity by making use of manlike image body, female as sexually superior power identity, many sided revelation of sexual desire, and adoption of face mask or mechanized cyborg image.
Conclusion Female images featured in Steven Klein's fashion photograph give hints about catching up to fast changing fashion environment, providing differentiated aesthetics, and trying to extend the female gender image. Hopefully, it is expected that the recognition and mindset toward female image will be continuously changed and that the expression realm will be also extended.

JEWNR 67(0) 107-118, 2020 |
ABSTRACT
Background The world's population trend is rapidly aging. Korea is also set to become a super-aged society in 2026, but it has yet to prepare public infrastructure to cope with traffic accidents. The relationship between urban decline and the effect of traffic accidents is deeply related to the improvement of facilities that reflect the trend of the times and the cause of accidents. In particular, the speed of walking, which is limited to the physical and psychological characteristics of the elderly, and the factors limiting the physical use of the walking facilities are causing serious exposure to children's walking accidents. Thus, an actual user-centered design approach is needed to improve which crossing-standing facilities of await in Inclusive design that meet the aging of users.
Methods Through a literature survey to this end, the characteristics of the elderly walker and theoretical consideration was given to the pedestrian crossing facility and the design of the enclosure. The analysis was based on prior research and reports within the scope of foreign countries in order to look at the application of the cross-standby design. The scope of the research was reduced to atmospheric facilities among transversal facilities and to the case of a 'long-lived chair' in Korea. Research methods were conducted on survey methods for the status and satisfaction of installation of 'long-lived chair', 'F.G.I.' and 'fly-on the all-observation' techniques.
Result To reduce the fundamental pedestrian accident rate through the research method, the design improvement direction of cross-standby facilities should be considered in detail simultaneously with the user's behavioral characteristics, physical environment and operational aspects.
Conclusion This Inclusive design approach will serve as an active part of a happy aged-friendly society in the actual use environment and in the process of use of the elderly, who are the weakest in traffic. And this is also the final direction of the Inclusive Design for everyone. I hope that the measures presented in this study will be a cornerstone of the design direction that will go further and cause all pedestrians to cross-border traffic accidents.
