Development of Design Education Program based on Edutainment for Elementary School Teachers

ABSTRACT
This study is to examine the present situation of elementary design education, and to develop design education programs based on edutainment with play and fun elements. As a preparatory research, the current state of elementary design education both at home and abroad, and elementary school teachers` understanding of design were looked into. It was learned how design education is currently provided in elementary schools and what problems it has. Textbooks used in elementary school courses were also examined and design sections were selected out of them. Newly devised education programs were applied to the selected sections and experimental teachings were performed. Concrete edutainment-based design education programs were proposed according to the study result. Underlying the new design education programs were proposed `communication, experimentation, planing & analyzing` in this study. The final object of this study is to apply education of design, for which integrated thinking process is required, to elementary courses effectively, and this is expected as a creative educational method for future generation. Accordingly, practical education programs were developed to present goals and contents for elementary design education for teachers who are not design specialists.

A Developing Strategy of Mobile Services for the Silver Generation

ABSTRACT
This study deals with a developing strategy of mobile services for the silver generation. The main aim of this paper is to explore the applications of mobile services and to suggest a developing strategy.
To achieve the aim, this paper investigated existing resources to examine the characteristics of the silver generation, their changing lifestyles and silver industries. Secondly, mobile phones are examined, mainly recent trends of mobile phones.
Afterwards, the area of mobile services are classified and divided as three areas which are relevant with silver generation.
Through case studies, the current situation of mobile phones and services were analysed, and old consumer`s potential needs were analysed as well.
Based on findings, this paper suggested the areas of mobile services which can be successful in the market and a developing strategy of mobile services for the silver generation.
The markets of mobile services for silver generation have huge potential and it is and appropriate time to pay attention to the possibilities of the mobile services for the silver generation.
