JEWNR 27(0) 129-138, 2010 |
ABSTRACT
With development of new media, purchase through new Internet media along with existing distribution structures is consistently increasing in contemporary society. Activated Internet shopping malls need new graphic languages in an aspect of visual languages considering cyber space. This study suggests that package design as a graphic language that is designed to deliver information effectively should consider immediacy and symbolic approach in cyber space. Package design in a product is a series of processes that interpret existing symbols and create symbols with new meanings. Therefore, the package design in online space should provide clear and objective images for customers just beyond delivery of information as attempts of coding and decoding meanings through symbols rather than induce curiosity about products.

JEWNR 27(0) 159-168, 2010 |
ABSTRACT
Mirror World means the virtual reality world reconstructing the reality world. But audience visiting the Mirror World is easy to lose the way, because they should find the way by only visual information. Therefore, we suggest traffic flow approach factored in visual perception which the audiences can find the right way.
The experiment is figuring out the difference of method, finding the way between real world and virtual reality world. We carried out the experiment at Gakwonsa in Taejosan. According to the experiment, we found out methods using to find way in real world and we found out the method applying in virtual reality world. And we found the fact that people take more information from right side than the left side of environment.
Additional experiments were performed in Independence Hall based on the results of previous experiments. First experiment was performed at third pavilion of Independence Hall and we didn`t give the elements of visual perception information and compared traffic flow in Independence Hall, Second experiment was given performed and we compared traffic flow in Independence Hall, As a result we found out that if we give the elements of visual and perception information for the audience, they follow traffic flow recommended by designer.

ABSTRACT
Various fine arts trends appeared in 1960s and their influence still exists to play an important role. Especially, the minimalism, appeared this period, is a fine art trend pursuing extreme restrain in shape and color use to minimize the influence of an artist. The previous minimalism study in fashion focuses on the expression of minimalism on clothes through shape pattern. However, study on the use of color related to minimalism is rare. Therefore, the objectives of this study is to evaluate the minimalism, appeared with conjunction with industralization of US, showing the minimal characteristics in color as well as the simple restrained shapes included in the vocabulary of minimalism and to analyze the color use. In the color contrast, works of 1960s fine artists, Robert Morris and Donald Judd, and Pierre Cardin showed both strong color comparison and similar color comparison in their works.

JEWNR 27(0) 179-187, 2010 |
ABSTRACT
Due to accelerate a development of ubiquitous technology, revolution of information technology brings big changes to the society. The network will come in wide use and functions of microprocessor which is scattered soak into human activity space with lapse of time. It is also coming to be planned to create new environments for display exprssion of museum in concept of ubiquitous technology. This research leads new paradigm and a direction of development of techniques for display exprssion of museumlay which is stand on the basis of digital story telling. There is an assumption digital storytelling appears display presentation method as the existing method. With this assumption, the research aims at goals as follows.
First, observe change process in storytelling and also observe digital story telling which is center of presentation concept in museum of ubiquitous technical base. Second, display type can be classified from method of display presentation. Centering around this, collect tendency of various display method which reflects in feature of ubiquitous technique and abstract features of display presentation. Then, analyze the results. Third, by grafting the results from above and features of display presentation on characteristics of digital storytelling, present desirable display presentation method of digital storytelling.
To be true to interact between exhibition and spectators, between spectators and display space, or between spectators and cyber space, there should be digital storytelling in display presentation.
Prologue, image, movie, and interaction should be integrated. To be established display presentation method of digital storytelling base of perfect immersion, there should verify by constant case collection and analysis. It should not just stop as research. It must be applied actual display presentation in hereafter.

JEWNR 27(0) 189-198, 2010 |
ABSTRACT
In the twenty-first century, regional cultural and economic competition between cities has become a greater focus than global competition between nations.
While local governments search for methods to promote regional competitiveness within current trends, an important goal has been the establishment of an attractive regional image both internally and externally.
In the process of establishing a local identity design, the 246 nationwide local governments have adopted confusingly uniform expressions of style that mimics each other and that were hastily adopted spurred on by fashionable trends.
This paper will examine the present state and problems of identity design starting with the examination of a local government identity design system and proposition of an integrated identity design system based on wide area government. To make this possible, the identity design system of Gangwon Province which is one of wide area local governments and 18 cities and counties under it has been set as an example to make proposal.
This study hopes to establish the groundwork for a method of creating an integrated identity design system that efficiently represents local governments while celebrating the uniqueness, high values, and essence of each region.

ABSTRACT
The cultural environment of the human society shows its trend that repeats evolutions for advancement according to the periodic flow. The developments in the history of art, in view of cultural context of the human history, demonstrate a trend of styles that represent the corresponding era, and the specific cases on various expressions can be found in accordance with the changes in such forms. Similarly, design has made much progress along with the periodic flows. Most notably, the trend in the identity design of visual c communication designs that addresses the essential issue of the target finds itself in the situation where it should evolve in accordance with the periodic environment or gain the upper hand in the image by reflecting the current times.
Notably, the environment design of the 21st century where image is regarded highly demands a novel type of the design system. Unlike the past where the system which applies a single type in the view of formative art universally was interpreted as an identity design, this age demands exploration, development and research into the design system that can be flexibly applied according to the advancement of the digital media.
This study thus aims to suggest the possibility of tapping into the overall environment of the new system and the system itself via the case study and analyses on the identity design systems on its way to change and advancement on the basis of the periodic perspectives where the trend has changed from analog to digital. In the meanwhile, the diversity of symbols in the identity design system that has been developed in a more lenient fashion will be examined while the multidimensional polyhedron regarding the origin of the concept and the creation of forms will be interpreted and understood through observance on the movements of the target object which was used as the motif and the dynamic views. To that end, this study has been summarized and explained via the observance on the directional angles, manifestation of the essential substance, and creation of repeated overlap.
The identity design which expresses the polyhedron based on the dynamic perspectives demonstrates the identity that represents the period where changes are made grounded on uniqueness in the highly creative and differentiated form. In addition, it displays variability whose basic unit changes forms organically. This, in turn, expands the scope of the easy expressions with the advent of the digital media. In this day and age of digitization, the identity design requires the development of diverse expression methods, techniques and systems in consideration of the new media.
This study is rooted in the "flexible identity" that pursues changed motions. It confirms that the multidimensional polyhedron is a key element of the visual perception that plays a vital role in the identity design system that represented by the future-oriented enterprising spirit by reflecting the forward-looking and dynamic changes, activeness, and the trend of the current times.
