| Abstract |
| The purpose of this study was to explore the knowledge, practice and problems existing among mothers regarding breastfeeding. A cross-sectional internet web-mail survey was designed and carried out from April to May, 2008. The participants consisted of the mothers who had babies under 24 months of age with the permission of the subjects (N=708). The self-administered questionnaire consisted of three sections; sociodemographic questions, the knowledge, and practice toward breastfeeding. The results obtained from the SPSS Program(Ver. 18) are as follows: The breastfeeding rate decreased by 1.47% per month. Overall knowledge regarding breastfeeding in the study population was 8.9 (Range 2-12). Employed mothers` breastfeeding rates were lower than those of unemployed mothers`. The results indicate that improving the environment for breastfeeding on the job is an important strategy to encourage Korean women to breastfeed. In addition, an effective web interface design is needed. |
