Abstract
Contemporaries in the 21st century are exposed to diseased stress feeling anxiety, fear, suppression etc. in the unstable social phenomena, economic panic, pain of era pursuing only material, contradictory life of social policy to pursue welfare. In the midst of quickly changing society, contemporaries find themselves to seek self in world of sense and unconsciousness rather than reason and consciousness. Under this background, this study proceeded with work to seek image from surrealism among flow of history of fine arts analyzing poems of Yi Sang who experienced similar life as contemporaries under Japanese colony in 1930s. This trial aims to getting right eye to see contemporary era through events which put behind as a history of the past in the midst of social phenomenon where our visual culture changes. Identification process of poetic world of Yi Sang and visual expression about illusion image in the midst of surrealism cannot be put aside as subjective thoughts of the author - Yi Sang sublimed agony of dark era about anxiety of late 19th century and uncertain future of early 20th century into his own unique poetic language. Sympathy can be sought from present excessive industrial development, rapid scientific development, difficulty of obtaining food, economic depression, natural disaster, excessive limitless competition, melancholy, diseased stress etc. As he faced collapse of identity of reasonable self and experienced disorder, Ogamdo of Yi Sang says about psychological experiences of newness and anxiety of appearance of unfamiliar one through excessive exposure of new civilization in 1930s. This study intends to draw image from paintings of surrealism by interpreting text of `poem No. the 11th` and `poem No. the 13th` among Ogamdo. This could provide flexible thinking to understand literature and pictures, and diversity of vision to see present era by inducing positive reading through visual image of poems.
