Reconceptualization of Editorial Design for eBooks According to the Paradigm Shift in Platform

Abstract
The book has been undergoing changes in the Internet-based digital area. Compared to paper books with pictures and texts, the eBook, by nature, has a platform which combines all the elements of digital contents such as pictures, texts, sound, and video. Considering the eBook is a new type of digital device, research on editorial design needs to take a different approach from research on paper books. Users when in contact with the media, `familiarity` is an important variable that should be considered. In addition, the content that is utilized is the effect of user`s attitude and the distance between users and devices. This study redefines the concept of editorial design for eBooks emphasizing it as an extended model of print media, and further examines the newly expanded perspective of formative elements. As a result, 1. depending on the content of the information considering the flow of the user`s gaze, you must configure the layout. 2. Typography affect the size of the letters, but the big difference in the form of letters could be seen. 3. Improve the quality of the screen enables realistic icons or graphics. Showed that users prefer that the image or gradations in the color. Was used as the Tablet PC devices, leading users to take advantage of the eBook. And limited to the eBook novels, magazines, cartoons, news, etc., a limit had to say. It is hoped that continuous research on eBooks taking into account the changes in digital media as well as the user`s psychological state and experiences will take place.
