Research Trends and Issues of Arts-based corporate education

Abstract
The purpose of this study is to find strong theoretical basis of arts-based education that influence organizations and the society by identifying meanings of exchange and interaction between art and business that become more active in the age of vagueness and uncertainty and inquiring recent overseas studies on effects and functions of educationally connecting corporate and art. Nowadays, in the reality of knowledge economy, fragmental and reactive corporate education is facing the controversy of being no use, and new progressive ideas were suggested to achieve high standard innovation and accomplishment. Also, in order to complement existing methods, arts-based education gained attention. Even with increased interest and field cases, relating theory is not completely constructed. Therefore, it is appropriate and timely to define educational connection between corporate and art and to expect the future of such education through overall understanding of recent study trend. In this study, previous studies on benefits from arts-based leaning were analyzed in 3 categories: function to improve work capabilities of members, function to contribute to improving creative power of the organization with innovative ideas, and function for members to share values and to make senses to accomplish their purposes. These functions do not mutually exclude others, and they play cyclical roles to step closer to the fundamental goal of the organization. Also, in this study, an arts-based education model that shows individual capability improvement extending out inside the organization is analyzed to identify elements that lead to `spill-over effect` and cumulative evolution of the whole organization.
