| Abstract |
| With the growing cultural interest in design, as well as industrial interest, products using traditional patterns are being actively developed. The aim of this study is at this time to develop interior goods using apricot flower pattern among traditional patterns. The material used here is felt and the product selected is the decorated mat. The arrangement of pattern was placed regularly or irregularly for each product and the various laser-cutting technique were used. While pre-existing products mainly used the cut-cut technique among laser-cutting techniques, various techniques were used in combination in this study to get more diverse effects.
Unlike other fabrics, felt has a advantage of unwinding when the laser-cutting technique is used. Therefore, outlines of products can vary and the pattern can be used itself as the shape of the product. Engraving technique was the more effective way to make small and delicate patterns. Also the utilization of complex techniques in this study made it possible to create products with multi-layering effects.
The result of survey revealed that consumers preferred the product with circular layout the most among circular, linear and irregularly scattering pattern. In terms of cutting technique, consumers showed the preference to kiss-cut technique for the product with circular layout, the mixed technique between cut-cut and kiss-cut technique for the product with linear layout, and cut-cut technique for the product with irregularly scattering layout respectively. |
