A Study on the Colors Minimalism Fashion and Fine Arts in 1960s

Abstract
Various fine arts trends appeared in 1960s and their influence still exists to play an important role. Especially, the minimalism, appeared this period, is a fine art trend pursuing extreme restrain in shape and color use to minimize the influence of an artist. The previous minimalism study in fashion focuses on the expression of minimalism on clothes through shape pattern. However, study on the use of color related to minimalism is rare. Therefore, the objectives of this study is to evaluate the minimalism, appeared with conjunction with industralization of US, showing the minimal characteristics in color as well as the simple restrained shapes included in the vocabulary of minimalism and to analyze the color use. In the color contrast, works of 1960s fine artists, Robert Morris and Donald Judd, and Pierre Cardin showed both strong color comparison and similar color comparison in their works.
