Abstract |
This study examines the concept of microblog as a new communication channel and the present state of the microblogging services in Korea and investigates the characteristics of microblog. Through the literature review and the case study focused on `Twitter` and `Me2day`, this study finds out that microblog, the derivation of existing personal media like blog, has the attributes of computer-mediated communication and is formed of remediation of merging the various characteristics of diverse media. New communication style in microblog is characterized by self-expression by short text formation, interconnected extension and spatial-temporal flexibility. At the moment of microblog expanding the society-wide influence, the meaning of this study is to investigate microblog as a new communication channel and clarify the direction of microblog usage through clarifying the characteristics of new communication method. |
