A Development of Multicultural Art Education Programs for First and Second Graders through Expression of Multi-View of a Mural in MuYongChong

Abstract
Goguryeo was a powerful country as a multicultural society in Northeast Asia. The tombs of Goguryeo contain murals that represents the cultural features and living customs, etc. This study is based on the point of multi-view that finds in Goguryeo tomb MuYongChong and developed the art education programs for multicultural children at the elementary schools in Korea. These programs mean integrated programs to understand and accept the differences in various cultures and to suggest to Korean society that places great emphasis upon multicultural education. These programs were developed by conducting interdisciplinary research. There are not any intergrated art education programs for multicultural Korea yet. But Australia has done execution of the positive effectiveness in the National Agenda for a Multicultural Australia since 1989. Australia Council for the Arts is running a multicultural arts work, and plays a key role. Australian schools are offering multicultural art education. Accordingly, this study is founded on the current characteristics of multicultural Korea and the historical basis of Goguryeo tomb MuYongChong and the programs are multicultural art education programs for the first grade students and the second grade students at the elementary schools in Korea. Results of the study are as follows: First, personal activity includes variegated Mom and Dad`s face painting. Second, small group activity includes the making of creative costumes. Third, large group activity includes the developing of making MuYongChong in our time. Multicultural art education programs are to respect for others, to harmonize with all people, and to pursue a multicultural and advanced country for child development in Korea.
