| Abstract |
| An improvement in user interface design that is accomplished through iterative usability testing is an essential part of user-centered design for user interface design development. This study aims to suggest the application of paper prototyping method that is applied to practical designing for usability evaluation. For this purpose, the study examines prototyping methods which can be applied to usability evaluation in the early stage of development process and establishes the appropriate process for paper prototyping in a methodological point of view. In order to conduct research, based on the researching of existing usability evaluation, usability principles and the evaluation methods for measuring usability were considered. The study analyzed the meaning of making prototype and its role in development stage. Distinctive features of paper prototyping were considered by the composing of existing research. The study established the appropriate five-step test process for characteristic features of paper prototyping and analyzed the tasks to be performed on each stage in the process. Also based on the result, the practical use of paper prototyping was provided by the case study that user interface design was improved by applying the paper prototyping method used in the design process of the interactive story for mobile phones. The result of this study will be able to reduce the total cost of development by being effectively applied to the designing stage in the development of user interface design. |
