Abstract |
Facing the continuing recession with the 21st century`s rapidly-changing economic situation, the government established "The Special Law for Promoting Traditional Markets" in October of 2004 and is supports a traditional market-modernization project in cooperation with local governments. However, this project focuses mainly on the improvement of facilities for traditional markets, and its performance-based execution undermines the unique characteristics of traditional markets. Thus, this study depicted basic traditional market images using shapes and composition, according to design principles. In addition, based on these images, this study proposed various practical motives, product cases and application cases. By promoting the use of traditional market images, this study aims to highlight the unique characteristics and the positive images of traditional markets and to differentiate them from other distribution channels. Furthermore, this study aims to make the traditional market play a landmark role in local communities through the harmony between local residents and merchants in order to raise the pride of traditional market merchants. |
