A study on the change of typographical trend in newspaper design(Focused on the Korean newspaper)

Abstract
Newspaper design, whose free visual expression was restrained due to an emphasis on a functional aspect of information conveyance, is changing. The improvement both on content and design became an inevitable necessity due to an emergence of on and off line media, which seems to threaten the existence of traditional newspaper. So far, despite the existence of fundamental characteristic differences between conservatives and progressives, no visual uniqueness (Identity) could have been found. However, with the emergence of factors like unconventional threats, unprecedented trend in newspaper design is appearing. Given the circumstances, we begin the analysis on the changing trends of newspaper design from the perspective of typography. More specifically, the analysis focuses on annual samples on domestic magazines from past to present that allows the observers to see the changing factors in the typographic factor such as text, paragraph and the grid system. Also, the analysis searches for factors in new trend that could not be found among past newspapers.
