abstract
Background Modern consumers place greater importance on experiential value and emotional satisfaction gained through products rather than mere ownership. Craft experiences provide consumers with opportunities for creative expression and immersion, offering the joy of self-expression and an appreciation of the cultural and artistic value of craftworks. This study empirically analyzed the impact of craft workshop activities on consumers’ value perception and satisfaction with crafted works, based on Pine and Gilmore's Experience Economy Model (4Es). Methods A survey was conducted with 74 participants who engaged in craft workshops, and the questionnaire was designed based on the four elements of the Experience Economy Model. Result Entertainment experiences had the greatest impact on craft value and satisfaction by enhancing immersion and enjoyment. Educational experiences supported understanding but had limited direct influence on satisfaction. Aesthetic experiences added beauty but sometimes reduced satisfaction due to unmet expectations, while escapist experiences had minimal effect on perceived value. Conclusion Craft experiences positively influence consumer satisfaction and the perceived value of craft products. In particular, entertainment experiences have been identified as a key factor, suggesting the need for strategies that effectively incorporate experiential elements in the design of craft experience programs.
