김소라 Sora Kim
abstract
Background The purpose of this study is to analyze learners’ perception and satisfaction for an online class on clothing patternmaking. Methods A questionnaire on satisfaction and perception of online classes was conducted on 58 students participating in an online patternmaking class in 2021. The questionnaire was composed of 63 questions, of which 37 were scale-type questions, 6 were category-type questions, and 20 were open questions. A 7-point Likert-type scale was used. Results The mean of the scale questions, was 6.15. Responses included the following statements; “The captions in the lecture video helped me understand the class content,” “The example assignment file uploaded by the professor to the LMS helped me understand the assignment,” “The screen composition of the video lecture was helpful in understanding the content of the class as there were full shots and partial shots,” “I think video lectures are necessary for online classes for patternmaking,” “I am satisfied with the evaluation method for midterm and final exams,” “I am satisfied with the evaluation method for homework,” and “I am generally satisfied with the patternmaking class I took in the first semester of 2021.” Conclusions As an efficient teaching method for post-COVID-19 patternmaking class, I propose a blended learning in which lectures are conducted through video lectures, and Q & A and checking assignments are conducted through face-to-face lectures.
