Effects of Personal and Environmental Characteristics of College Students in Fashion Schools in Korea on Their Entrepreneurial Intention - Focusing on the Regulation Effect of Business Foundation Efficacy -

Background Recently, with the rising number of youth unemployment entrepreneurial intention are mounting. Therefore, this study looks into the fashion major college students` thoughts towards, entrepreneurial intention. Methods For this purpose, a survey was conducted on college students in fashion schools in four regions- Seoul, Gyeonggi·Incheon, Chungcheong and Gyeongsang. Then, a frequency analysis, a factor analysis, a reliability analysis, a correlation analysis and a multiple regression analysis were conducted using SPSS 22.0 based on the total 262 data. Result Risk-taking tendency among personal characteristics and network environment among environmental characteristics had the greatest effects on their entrepreneurial intention. These were followed by economic condition, achievement need and start-up support system of the government. Moreover, the regulation effect of business foundation efficacy was found only on environmental characteristics: the intention of fashion students to entrepreneurial intention was affected more by the environmental characteristics they perceive. Conclusion Thus, fashion schools shall first investigate the mentoring programs and start-up support system of the government, then, provide the students with various opportunities to utilize such services in order to broaden the network environment of potential entrepreneurs among their students.
