abstract
These days, unique and creative nail art designs have been developed with the use of diverse materials and techniques as recognition of the public on nail art has increased due to their higher quality of living and changes in the concept of beauty. Recently, nail design using art works has been loved by customers and in particular, modern people who pursue freedom prefer designs using artworks by pop artists and neo-pop artists. Therefore, this study presented nail art designs using nail art techniques from art works by Jean Michel Basquiat, a graffiti artist of the 1980s, a representative neo-pop artist in graffiti technique and action painting to provide basic data for related studies. For this purpose, this study analysed art works by Jean Michel Basquiat, referring to previous studies, diverse books and Internet data, and based on the results, five designs were created with five themes in art works by Jean Michel Basquiat with the use of hand painting, marble and embossing techniques. As a result, it was discovered that art works by Jean Michel Basquiat were categorized into five themes: autobiographical experiences, nationalism, cartoons, anatomy and death, and monetary value. The representative work in each theme was effectively reorganized for a nail art design. Therefore, it is expected that consistent studies and development on nail art design using art works will be made.
