abstract
The aim of this article is to examine the brochure design of Gamcheon Culture Village located in Busan, Korea with the purpose of revitalizing urban village and visualizing effective communication through the map and the function of the brochure. Historical background, whole process of design thinking are presented. Finally, important perspective of design thinking process applied in the class also summarized with regard to direction of improvement. In detail, the design thinking process, the Double Diamond diagram developed at the Design Council (UK) in 2005 as a simple graphical way of describing the design process which is divided into four distinct phases-Discover, Define, Develop, and Deliver, was effective to lead the process with multi disciplinary students with mapping the divergent and convergent stages of the design process, The outcome of this project is brochure design which led to patent registration. Brochure encourages visitors to remind the place by providing them with fish-patterned lighting atmosphere. Not only do we make the "Conversational" brochure for the user, but also it let people keep reminding Gamcheon Culture Village consecutively. The diverse means of integrated design education to enhance creativity of undergraduate students through Design and Creativity course in a science and technology specialized school were investigated. In this creativity-focused society where novelty and creativity generate value of learning and competitiveness, the authors argue that students today learn more effectively in pedagogical practices that emphasize holistic thinking, active learning through design-based integrated education. For the methodology, authors conducted qualitative research using in-depth interview and direct observation for generating results. Our belief is that the methods explored in this article represent the seeds of a new model of education based on creative and applied learning.
