Wedding Dress Design based on Body Type

abstract
Background Since the standardized aesthetic values have changed, the modern wedding dress style varies based on different body types. The purpose of this study is to develop creative designs for different body types. Methods Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator were used for the design of wedding dresses. The body types were categorized into five different groups and the study focuses on the particular styles of wedding dresses that fit different body types along with the ones that should be avoided. (Refer to “work (I~V)”) Result 1. For the pear-shaped body type, the design that gave a glamorous look on the top part of the body was used and the “A” line dress was able to cover the thick bottom part of the body. 2. For the inverted triangular-shaped body type, the design that gave a little volume on the bottom part of the body was used and the simple bell line design was able to lure attention to this bottom part. 3. For the rectangular-shaped body type, the design that gave the “princess” line was used to give emphasis on the chest, hips, and the waist line. 4. For the hourglass-shaped body type, the “mermaid” design was used to give emphasis on the top part of the body, especially on the shoulder area. 5. For the round-shape body type, the shoulder pads were used to give an overall balance between the top and bottom parts of the body. Conclusion With the study of ideal body types and designs, there needs to be development of creative design for different types of wedding dress to give a positive look for each body type.
