Development of Textile Pattern Design and Fashion Cultural Products for Jeju Gosari Festival

abstract
Background Jeju-do holds Mt. Halla Pure Gosari Festival annually as local cultural contents in order to spread out the excellence of Jeju Gosari as specialized resources. Event hough various experience activities are progressed, actually there is no memorable fashion culture product for the image of Gosari Festival. Accordingly, this study aimed to develop a memorable fashion culture product representing Gosari Festival. For this purpose, based on the style and formative features of Jeju Gosari, the study developed a modern sense textile pattern applied fashion culture product. And the study demonstrated the possibility of use as local special resources of the developed textile design and fashion culture product. Methods Textile patterning work was performed using Adobe CS5(Photoshop, Illustrator) and TexPro, a textile CAD program. After selecting Cheilanthes argentea (Gmel.)Kunze, Adiantum capillus-veneris L, Onychium japonicum(Thunb)Kunze and Adiantum capillus-veneris L which are representative in formative characteristics, textile patterns were developed using repetitive arrangement style of Proctors` diamond pattern and square pattern, a set layout method. Result To figure out if it can be applied to fashion culture product, it was applied to various product line and design mapping was performed. Based on the results, bags and scarfs using DTP printed material (canvas and silk) with textile patterns selected according to the intention of design are produced and also t-shirts with motif, repeat and textile pattern inserted are produced as memorable fashion culture products. Conclusion Such results will attract attention to the Jeju regional festival and play a guideline in developing various memorable fashion culture product development.
