ABSTRACT
Background Introduction screen of the hotel website conveys hotel's first impression and provides service information via online, thus contributing to purchase decision. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to compare the experience structure of South Korean and foreign boutique hotel websites and to suggest a strategic direction for the experience structure.
Methods Out of hotels located in Seoul, South Korea, and the major cities of the U.S., seven cases of boutique hotel websites were collected through three stages of screening. Then, based on previous research, the experience elements of Bernd Schmitt's experience grid module and the content of its provisional methods were specified. Thereafter, the experience structure of the introduction page for the U.S. and South Korean boutique hotel websites were analyzed.
Result In terms of providing methods of experience, hotels in both countries share a tendency to lack experience in human factors. However, the number of U.S. hotel websites providing product appearance information was higher than that of South Korea. The biggest difference is that the hotels in the U.S. use a variety of experience types than when providing spatial information, using behavior and relationship experiences that are rarely used in South Korea.
Conclusion First, South Korean hotel websites must overcome limits of mostly relying on three means of providing experience: communication, identity, and spatial experience. Second, diversification of experience types is needed. In addition to visual and cognitive experience types, strategic approaches are needed to utilize experience types of behavior, feelings, and relationships. Third, the utilization of human experience is important as a means of differentiation. More systematic experience management can be achieved by analyzing the hotel's website experience structure using Schmidt's strategic experience grid.

ABSTRACT
Background Is there a way to support healthy and sustainable behavior with design? Recently, there is an increasing interest in behavioral intervention design research regarding health, environmental policy, economy, and education. Design motivates people to evaluate products with either positive or negative emotion while using the products. Thus, product emotion could define motivational intervention design factors and process. The purpose of this study is to provide a design framework that explains the role of design based on a hypothesis that is “product appraisal and emotion could sustain a behavior” to provide a path when designing a motivational intervention strategy.
Methods First, the study explains an interrelated process of behavioral causal factors from a behavioral psychology (Skinner, 1953; Neisser, 1976; Stern, 2000) literature review. Second, the study suggests a motivational behavioral intervention design framework from studying the design appraisal model (Desmet, 2002) to explain the role of design and suggests a further research area.
Result The motivational behavioral intervention design framework shows that the interaction between cognitive factors and emotion may be a prerequisite condition for building a behavioral intervention strategy. Furthermore, the framework can guide us to design a motivational intervention strategy by explaining how emotion is derived from a design appraisal process.
Conclusion In order to activate desirable behavior, interaction between behavior causal variables is necessary. This study is meaningful that it applied design core value (i.e., appraisal and emotion) into behavioral models, which expanded the behavioral design research realm. In future research, experiential studies to prove the design outcome of this framework will be needed.

ABSTRACT
Background The purpose of this paper is to explore animal abuse in the fashion industry, to find ways to coexist between animals and humans, and to develop a fashion illustration storybook based on animal abuse.
Methods This paper investigates animal rights, animal abuse, fashion illustrations, activities of fashion brands and animal protection organizations through literature research. Based on this, the author created a storybook consisting of ten fashion illustrations to improve the positive meaning of fashion that prevents animal abuse.
Results Modern fashion is not just for humans, but for animals and the natural ecosystem to coexist. Many fashion brands have developed and used similar artificial materials instead of animal materials and have implemented the image of coexistence between humans and animals beyond the limits of animal materials.
Conclusion This study has an academic and industrial contribution in providing inspiration to fashion designers and the industry, as well as basic data on animal abuse research.
