Background When developing services for the vulnerable people, it is difficult for users to participate due to physical and mental limitations, so it tends to be provider-oriented. Therefore, this study tried to find out the factors that promote participation in co-design for the physically and cognitively vulnerable people, and to find ways to participate.
Methods Based on previous research, the co-design process and tools were developed, applied to the workshop, and the research results were derived through field observation and analysis.
Result In order to promote participants' participation in co-design, which the researcher did not consider, it is necessary to minimize the use of tools that require inter-participant evaluation activities, opinions synthesis and coordination activities, and participants' thinking. It is necessary to construct concrete examples of facilitators for participant responses, use of specific and explicit words, and simple principles and behavioral tools.
Conclusion In terms of design tools that promote participation in co-design for the physically and cognitively vulnerable, based on 'ease of use' and 'simplification', 'a tool to reflect vulnerability through a participant's preliminary survey,' 'a tool to reflect participant needs', and 'specific explicit 'Use of words' should be considered, and if intervention of a facilitator is not easy, an 'alternative tool' that does not require special competence or coordination of opinions is needed. From the operational aspect, ‘anonymity’, ‘exclusion of evaluation activities between participants’, and ‘description of specific examples of facilitators’ should be considered. In addition, a method should be planned and applied so that the authority of participants in co-design can be maintained through these facilitating factors. |
