| Background Recently, the record and research on the characteristics of Korean fashion is becoming important. The purpose of this study is to analyze the works of Korean fashion designer Park Choonmoo, who is actively engaged in international and domestic stage, to reveal her design aesthetic features.
Methods This study collected articles and reviews on Park Choonmoo and her fashion collection, using an internet search site. And study analyzed the design of collection from 2010 FW to 2017 SS in New York Fashion Week. Collection photographs were collected from various fashion media web sites and brand facebook. The collection theme, inspiration, formative characteristics, and images were analyzed.
Result The characteristics of Park’s design appeared as achromatic and monotone, harmony of structural line and irregular line, formative expression by mixture of material and material. Also images of minimalism, ambiguous sex expression, sportism, and expression of Korean aesthetics was appeared.
Conclusion Park Choonmoo has been based on avant-garde and modern design sensibility, and recently she is trying to introduce Korean sensibility. As a result of this study, the aesthetic characteristics of the design shown in Park's collection appeared as ‘contemporary avant-garde' and ‘Korean aesthetic avant-garde’. |
