Research on the Utilization and Problem Analysis of Developmental Issues of Festival Characters - Based on the Korea Culture and Tourism Festival-

ABSTRACT
The Character Industry expanded into the festival market in 1995. Utilizing the annual reports released by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism from 2009 - 2012, the research found that 63.33% of those Culture and Tourism Festivals utilized characters. Also, the number of festivals implementing the use of characters are steadily increasing. Concurrently, a variety of issues and problems were found at those festivals using characters. In order to identify and address these problems, the study used three approaches. The first approach was the verification and impact of characters to the festivals. The second was the analysis of festival assessment reports. The third was a survey of the Culture and Tourism Festival operators. Also, the study introduced a case study to address the problems of the researched festivals as well as suggesting four strategies to enhance the value and longevity of a festival`s character.

The Effects of Make-up Artists` Brands` Characteristics and Product Demonstration on the Consumers` Response in Home Shopping - Focused on the Moderating Effects of Need for Impulsive Buying -

Focusing on the fast-growing make-up artist brands in recent, the current study was conducted in an attempt to investigate the effects of their traits(make-up artist`s reputation, collaborating company`s fame and product distinctiveness) and product demonstration(informativeness, demonstration factuality, model attractiveness and demonstration uniqueness) on consumer response(consumer trust, pleasure, and purchase intent). And for the possibility of impulse purchase through TV home shopping, the participants of the study were grouped into high and low impulse purchase groups in order to look into the possible differences in consumer response by impulse purchase. The results of the study were as follows. First, the higher the make-up artist`s reputation and collaborating company`s fame was, the higher level of trust the consumers showed about the product. Second, the product was more distinctive, consumers showed higher level of trust and felt more pleasure while watching the TV home shopping commercial. Third, as to the demonstration factors, the higher the demonstration factuality was, the higher level of trust the consumers showed about the product. And consumers felt more pleasure with more attractive models and unique demonstration. For the low impulse group, the informativeness positively affected consumer trust while for the high impulse group, the informativeness negatively affected consumer trust. the findings of the study suggest useful management implications for the cosmetic industry that develops and produces make-up artist brands and home shopping commercials.

The Formative Characterastics of John Galliano`s Works which Appears in the Christian Dior Collections - Based on 2006 S/S ~ 2010 F/W Haute Couture -

ABSTRACT
It is important task to recognize the trends of the works of designers and to decide on methods to apply these trends in order to be aware ahead of time of what the public wants and to be a leader in setting the latest trends in the midst of the fast changes of modern fashion. Christian Dior with its old and mature image has recruited John Galliano as the director and is providing a new appeal with elegance and femininity of Christian Dior products that has his personality on the products.
Thus, the purpose of this study is to recognize the characteristics of the work of John Galliano that appears in the Christian Dior Haute Couture Collections and to analyze the formative characteristics of John Galliano`s works by centering on the 3 elements of form, color and materials that are fundamental to fashion design.
As research methods, 374 pieces of clothing that appeared in the Christian Dior Collection from Spring/ Summer 2006 to Fall/ Winter 2010 according to the Vogue website of Great Britain were selected and an analysis of the frequency of appearance of the silhouette and the details of the shapes, the hues of the colors, the tone and arrangement of colors, the patterns and texture of the materials was conducted by utilizing a checklist.
Based on the results of this study, the characteristics of the works of John alliano in the Christian Dior Haute Couture Collection revealed a silhouette that made the beauty of the female body come alive using soft and delicate colors by borrowing from the design of his predecessor Christian Dior and the strong contrast of colors which are characteristic of John Galliano works that were utilized to make a statement. To analyze each of the elements that have been expressed in the works of a designer who defines an era of fashion is one of the processes that are required prior to an introduction of a design and it can be considered that this study will be basic research material in analyzing the values and image of the designer as well.

Sustainable Makeup Design Using Environment-friendly Materials

ABSTRACT
This study aims to identify the notion of sustainable makeup design and to expand the scope of the sustainabilty by providing the corresponding designs. Furthermore, by presenting makeup artists with a new paradigm of sustainable makeup design, this paper seeks to create a variety of designs which are in accord with the trends of the society at large.
Sustainable makeup design is defined as producing the beauty with using environmentally friendly materials. And it was emphasized that not only is the safety of nature and humans required, but cosmetics companies should produce products ethically as well, through minimizing invironmental pollution, energy usage, and skin damage caused while applying makeup. Sustainable makeup designⅠwas produced to support the notion of sustainable makeup design presented by the researcher and to suggest the availabilities; Sustainable makeup designⅡ was made, which integrated ecofriendly materials such as paper eyelashes and mud packs into the existing cosmetics; And Sustainable makeup designⅢ, which presented a new art makeup design using hardwood charcoal, honey, and grains, was also introduced.
When makeup that has the goals of pursuing the beauty is integrated into sustainable designs through this study, both artists and ordinary people can access the concept of sustainable makeup design readily. If this great advantage is applied throughout the beauty industries and the notion of sustainable design in the beauty industries is defined, and the studies to suggest guidelines are followed, it must certainly be a way to promote the development of the beauty industries and to enhance the reliability and the usefulness of them.

On some modern aspects in Choson`s craft-illustrations

ABSTRACT
This paper has ventured to propose that the Choson artistic products, especially craft-illustrations, had some clearly modern characteristics in every dimension of creation and were based on a kind of modern design. The Choson craft-illustrations have composed its visual elements generated of the mathematical and reasonable accumulation which had been made by Choson peoples` lifework.
A semiotical analysis was used to illustrate the above points, it could be investigated from figurative and artistic expressions in craft-illustration and explain its some features in style.
Firstly, the Choson craft-illustration reveals its modern character in abstract tendency which supports itself by growing to abstraction of the real figures. This character permits us to consider a standardization of the illustration. Secondly, the Choson craft-illustration reveals its textualization effect, transformation from a genre to the another, by stressing a integration of source original materiality and spirituality as well. It means that it has realized some re-mediation process of which our modern men discuss largely and deeply on its cause and result. Thirdly, the Choson craft-illustration reveals that the letters could be a important design element in the domain. The typographism was appeared in the craft-illustration in its large application. Abstractism, texualization and typographism were the major characters of the Choson craft-illustration, which aren`t different in every aspect from the modern one.
These main characters of the Choson craft-illustration show that our contemporary aesthetic and design in Digital age is not in its unique industrial and modern historical course, but also in our universal tradition which is actually performant.
Civilized of itself, the Choson has revealed important human and social competences for sophisticated craft and culturally deep products by overcoming the pure naturalist or non activist lives that many art critics had commented on.

When the business domain of the company is simple and limited within a certain boundary the circulation of the products is not that fast and short. The circumstances which are new field of the industries are emerged and the similar products are in the harsh competition in the market makes companies to conceive the brand to advocate the benefits of the specific products. To extend the life-cycle of the product and service and promote the image of the company service using brands the marketing communication strategy is conceived by company itself. The customers have wide range of many kinds of products to choose having accurate comparative information of the products compare to fast market situation. They are realizing their pursuit of the lifestyle buying the products depending on image and the level of awareness of the brands. These changes in the market situation makes the standards of the customers` choice to the products more complicated and the brand image is varied as many kinds as number of products. This study is focused on the brand hierarchy which has management method not for simple counter part of the product but for object of supervised activities. To achieve theoretical goal, fist brand hierarchy structure and management method is dealt within the brand strategy and suggest management relationship of customers` need. Each brand is prepared for its role to fulfill the customers` products image. Individual brand made of hierarchical structure and henceforth integrated brand structural management is connected to company`s brand image. Structural management method and strategically, aspect of marketing and brand communication make importance and need of them aroused.

ABSTRACT
Development of digital technology, which has brought forth fashion illustration combined with digital, shows its creative development aspect. Concept of digital era directly influences all cultural and artistic domains as well as fashion illustration and at the same time guides future directions of them. As a result, digitals including various computer programs are actually used for education of fashion illustration by educational institutions. As such, combination with digital goes beyond the boundary of expressional ways of previous days and shows creative expressional ways. Thus, a study is needed to theorize present digital fashion illustration situation and set up concept of digital directly affecting it and based thereon to analyze expressions of digital fashion illustration.
Concept of digital can go back to philosophical thoughts of fold, rhizome and simulacre in its contextual background. It can be categorized by its specific expressional characteristics; pluralism accommodating the principle of diversity, mix of various potential elements, to go beyond the boundary by accepting diversity, circularity by accepting diverse existences, anthropocentricism by accepting own identities, conceptualization of internal meaning according to the principle of immateriality.
Connected with concept of digital, digital fashion illustration expresses the followings.
Firstly, in terms of accommodation departing from the centralism, it expresses pluralism centered on a few countries by authors` employment of various ethnic images of those countries. Secondly, it expresses the mixture of all elements combinable from authors` viewpoint through crossover, which is a creative image differentiated from traditional concept. Thirdly, concept of reincarnation, which combines digital to all the materials and incidents existing from the past to the present and assigns new meanings to them, occurs as a cycle of reborn digital fashion illustration. Fourthly, by pursuing decentralized thoughts, it expresses more widely beyond the traditional scope of expressional ways and areas. Fifthly, human`s pursuit of existence through identities requires happiness and enjoyment in the emotional aspect. It invites kidult`s gaming nature and expresses more in a human-centered way. Sixthly, digital fashion illustration expresses in pursuit of artistic sublimation as a conceptual artistic domain departing from the expressed outcome of materials.
This study theorized expressional aspects of digital fashion illustration by explaining concept of digital and based on it, proposed ideal ways of expression. We hope this study can be a theoretic literature contributing to development of creative digital fashion illustration for educational institutions and fashion illustrators in the field.

An Evaluation Concept of Elements in Website Design

ABSTRACT
This research aims to develop a design evaluation methodology that evaluate the elements of website interface design.
This study firstly investigated existing literatures to examine the principles of human sensibility ergonomics as well as interface designs, and collected the evaluation factors of the use of websites to classify them, and selected the design factors of websites based on precedent researches.
the study made out a checklist having 30 items that could be used for professional evaluation from the point of view of design appropriateness based on the principles of the use and Gestalt. Based on the findings, the study investigated evaluations enough to evaluate website design effectively, and selected evaluations depending upon the objects and features to evaluate users` satisfactions as well as design appropriateness and to suggest a design evaluation methodology of website interface.
In this study, the evaluation methodology can investigate users` trends by a design evaluation of website interface and to help reflect them to the design process in reasonable way.

Development of Analytic Research Frame and Methods for Enhancing Voice-driven Interaction in a Warehouse Management System

ABSTRACT
Effective convergence of mobile information technologies to package delivery services increasingly becomes important for delivery performance and better experience for both workers and customers. In order to improve the current experiences with hand-held devices, this paper examines the design opportunities for applying voice recognition technologies to mobile information devices used in package delivery service industry. By conducting observational user studies and analyzing the collected data from multiple viewpoints, the present research found some unmet needs in the current device usage, including needs for hands-free during moving and organizing parcels, ease of operations with wearing gloves, and seamless telecommunications with the office and customers. This research proposes that these kinds of issues will be able to be better addressed by adopting voice-driven interaction in package delivery processes. The future investigation will involve the development of voice-based information device design for package delivery and the evaluation of the effectiveness and experiences through user studies.

Development of Application Concept and Scenario based-on Interpretation of 20-30s Potential Smart-Phone User Group for Expanding Market in the Future

ABSTRACT
Recently, the smart phone market has been expanded enormously. The target of smart phone was business-oriented, but the target has been expanded toward younger and silver generation. The goal of this research is to investigate latent needs of 20-30s user group that has a potential to be main users in the future. In order to achieve this goal, 45 participants were recruited and their needs have been elicited through qualitative research methods. Their behaviors and statements have been collected through observation and interview. By the results, 558 user needs have been interpreted. 52 main needs and 8 theme has been drawn through card sorting method. Finally, a format of idea note integrating persona and scenario method has been suggested in order to develop application concepts in an user-centered way. This research will be used as a foundational reference for understanding target user and developing concepts by incorporating the target user for smart phone application development.
