ABSTRACT
Design can impact on a corporate`s economic value enormously. As it allows corporate`s intangible assets to be substantial via utilizing five senses of human body, world leading corporations are treating design as their top priority task of business strategy and let design department to intervene deeply from the early stage of a project phase. In order to strengthen their equity, they are not only exploiting design to follow technologies that are already driven. They are intended to develop technologies as a tool for realizing a beautiful design.
The purpose of this research is to examine how introduction of corporate`s design management influences in their stock price market. The right design management allows firm to create innovative business model that generates greater profit. Contributing in pursuit of profit satisfies the business objective can be shown as a high growth rate in the stock market in return. The bottom line is that the right design management decision helps corporate to increase in its comprehensive business value in near future.

An Analysis of the Contents of Design Education in Domestic High Schools - Centering on the Illustrations in Art Textbooks for 2009 Curricular Revision -

ABSTRACT
Design education in domestic high schools is currently being included as part of the art curriculum. In particular, although the social demand for design education is gradually increasing with the goal of improving creativity, there are lots of problems with the contents and the construction of the education. This basic research aims to develop design subjects for a college liberal arts curriculum. Taken into theoretical consideration was the fact that the objectives and values of art education change between high school and college, and design illustrations in a total of five art textbooks for the seventh curricular revision in 2009 were analyzed. The results showed that they had too many contents despite insufficient hours and that there was inconsistency in determining the degree of difficulty and area selection to associate a learning objective for each unit with instructional illustration. In particular, they had a little difference in aim from those currently suggested as central to domestic art education: historical and cultural values, use of personal and social functions, and the textual basis. Therefore, it is necessary to revise the contents of curricula and educational goals in consideration of this educational reality and conduct constant research and development in pursuit of flexible association between primary and secondary education.

Classification of narrative space type featured in title sequence of films

ABSTRACT
This study investigated implicative visualization of narratives by systematically reviewing on sentiments pervaded in title sequence and the following types and meanings of spatial expression. In fact, formative designs have not drawn much attention despite remarkable advances of title sequence as one of motion graphic fields. Thus, this study analyzed title sequence cases from 62 films produced in the past two decades based on literatures regarding stories, formative parts and images. Six types of spaces and expression features of five narrative groups were consequently found. The significance of the paper is on that it demonstrated the meanings and roles of space focusing on expression methods which imply narratives, and gave suggestions for its application. In the perspective, it is expected to contribute to the methodology for conveying symbolic expressions of narrative space and meanings.

ABSTRACT
Amid the social instability and economic panic of the modern society in the 21st century, the anxiety, fear, and suppression that contemporaries feel are exposed to contradictory life of social policy pursuing welfare.
Therefore, this researcher intended to analyze the poems of Yi Sang who experienced, under the Japanese Colonialism in the 1930s, the life similar to our contemporaries`, and thereby try to find images on the poems from the perspective of expressionism, one of movements in art history. Such a trial was aimed at having a right view on the current time in the social phenomenon causing changes in our visual culture, by exploring the events that were regarded as the past history.
The imaginative unification process of visual expression appearing in anxiety and fear state is not able to be viewed simply as a subjective image of this contemporary researcher.
Yi Sang`s Ogamdo was about aesthetic experience of the new and anxiety about appearance of something strange in the 1930s when, on one hand, his subjectivity of the rational self collapsed, and on the other hand, he was excessively exposed to new civilization. That feeling is similarly found in the current environments, such as the currently excessive development of industries, the remarkable development of science, food shortage, economic depression, natural disaster, infinite competition, depression of people of today, and their morbid stress.
This work was intended to translate the text of Poem No. 1 in Ogamdo written by Yi Sang, and draw images from the perspective of expressionism in the fine arts. In doing so, it can help induce people to read poems actively through visual images of poems and thereby give them flexible thinking power of understanding literature and paintings, and diverse views on the way of looking into the present time.

The Concepts of Body by Foucalt and Merleau-Ponty in Dress

ABSTRACT
One can accept and visualize various concepts of the body through clothing. Therefore, understanding the changing concepts of the body is the key to understanding the change of the dress.
The purpose of this study is to explore a useful tool for explaining how dresses have been changed during the period from the Victorian era to now. This tool owes mainly the two contradictory views on the body by Foucault and Merleau-ponty complementarily.
Foucault understands the body and its actions on the basis of the power group`s intention and function. On the contrary Merleau-ponty recognizes the body as an active being which acts subjectively.
According to Foucault, the power group brings in its ideal beauty and induces the public follow it. Based on the view of Foucault, we can confirm that the dynamics between the power groups and the opposition groups have led the change of dresses. The Victorian dress of men and women was introduced by the power group and against it, the dress of the opposition group like zoot-suit and channel dresses were appeared.
According to Merleau-ponty, the body is a subject interacting the surroundings. Based on the view of Merleau-ponty, Asian designers and Northern European designers have created dresses within mind that human beings are part of the nature interacting surroundings.
These cases in dress history imply that the two contradictory concepts of the body by Foucault and Merleau-ponty can be a useful tool for explaining the change of dress on the whole.

ABSTRACT
Currently, importance of intangible asset including design and contents has been growing as the important source of corporate competitiveness in our society. To vitalize the investment of contents developing industry, the fundamental law of cultural industry promotion prescribes designating an organization to evaluate the value of cultural products and technique in 2009. It also prescribes the support of the value evaluation organization and appraisal fees. Therefore, the potential value of domestic characters needs to precisely evaluated for the future national character design.
This research put its purpose on presenting key valuating factor for evaluation of character design and verifying the effectiveness of quantificational index extraction.
In the measurement of character image factor by Semantic Differential Method, ten valuation basis - pleasant, unique, warm, lovely, new, cute, dynamic, hopeful, fantastic, pure - are used to measure fourteen characters. This research contributes to character design development in a corporation.

ABSTRACT
This study is designed to develop textile design based on the formative features of Chusa Kim Jung Hee`s seal engraving, as a way of using exile culture in Jeju Island in various ways.
Jeju Island, the representative place of exile, since the advent of Joseon Dynasty, developed a unique geographic and cultural exile culture distinctive from other areas. Motives of textile design are developed to enhance the applicability of cultural and tourism products based on the results of analysis on Kim`s poem, calligraphy, and painting completed in Jeju Island as well as formative features of his seal engraving, including antiqueness, rhythmicity, moderation, and concreteness. It was devised to impart new values of exile culture to Jeju Island through the intrinsically re-branded exile culture contents of this exotic island rather than merely contribute to the development of storytelling contents of local culture.
Provided that the formativeness derived from Chusa Kim Jung Hee`s seal engraving is applied, it is likely to contribute to the development of various products of exile culture in Jeju Island and of fashion design.

The relationships among job characteristics, organizational commitment, and job satisfaction of fashion industry professionals

ABSTRACT
As competitions in the domestic and global market have been increasing, Korea`s fashion company face the problems regarding the effective use of man power of professional workers. The purposes of the study are to investigate 1) the relationships among job characteristics, organizational commitment, and job satisfaction of fashion professionals, 2) the differences of job characteristics, organizational commitment, and job satisfaction according to five fashion categories, and 3) the differences of job characteristics, organizational commitment, and job satisfaction according to demographics.
The study distributed 500 questionnaires to the fashion professionals working at diverse categories in fashion industry. Among the distributed questionnaires, 419 was used for statistical analysis.
The results showed that there were positive relationships among job characteristics, organizational commitment, and job satisfaction. When the fashion professionals perceived their jobs as well-organized, higher autonomy, and great responsiveness, they had a higher degree of organizational commitment. Also, the higher organizational commitment resulted in higher job satisfaction. In addition, there were differences among fashion categories in regard to job characteristics, organizational commitment, and job satisfaction. Finally, there were differences among demographics in regard to job characteristics, organizational commitment, and job satisfaction. The results showed that there were the differences among the marital status, age, and work experiences.
