ABSTRACT
Background The 4th industrial revolution will certainly make human life more convenient. However, there has been a problem raised by several futurologists and researchers that core technologies of it could possibly bring about social chaos. It is accordingly critical to study on possible and expected problems approaching negative aspects of this matter in the field of design. This study researches appropriate countermeasures that textile design can follow and proposes desirable value to be pursued.
Methods Analysis on precedent studies, reports, and journals has been made to consider the correlation between artificial intelligence and design. It is to see if there is any probability to employ artificial intelligence as a substitute for textile designers and discuss how to deal with a predictable crisis caused by the 4th industrial revolution.
Result When it comes to the threat from replacing designers’ work with artificial intelligence’s technique, the microscopic perspective says to create delicate design derived from human psychology and emotions and to develop entirely new motifs which cannot be collected by artificial intelligence. Meanwhile, the macroscopic perspective advises each individual to bear in mind ethics and morality in order to redeem humanity pursuing public good.
Conclusion The most important thing in the 4th industrial revolution era is right consciousness towards technology so that it can be used in a good way for society as well as humans. It is necessary to establish proper and integrated concept based on sustainability along with various design attempts, challenges, and in-depth studies.

ABSTRACT
Background There is a growing number of apparel manufacturers who are making their garment samples through product evaluations using 3D simulation technology. Despite its rising popularity and continuous progress, the appearance of tailored jackets are often assessed by expert panelists on actual human body. This is due to its complex construction process, which involves many pattern pieces and manipulation techniques. Therefore, this study aims to conduct appearance assessments of tailored jacket collars on both human subjects and a 3D virtual model to determine appropriate collar laying amounts for different collar stands. The findings of this study will contribute to the advancement of 3D simulation in garment manufacturing process.
Methods This study conducted appearance assessments of tailored jacket collars by selecting three human subjects and creating a 3D virtual model, whose body measurements fall within the average range of women aged between 20 and 29 years old in the 7th Korean Human Body Measurement Investigation. Different collar laying amounts were applied to the both actual and virtual tailored jackets in accordance with the changes in the length of collar stands. The data collected from the assessments was processed using SPSS 22.0, and statistically analyzed through technical statistics, t-test, F-test and Duncan-test.
Result The results of the appearance assessments demonstrated that when the jacket collar stand was 2.5cm, the most appropriate laying amount for the collar was 3cm, while 3cm collar stand was with 3.5cm laying amount, and 4cm collar stand was with 3.7cm laying amount.
Conclusion The findings of this study were able to validate the credibility of 3D technology in garment simulation to some extent by successfully comparing the results of the both assessment methods, and thereby proposing appropriate collar laying amounts for different collar stands. This will further enhance the effort to improve the accuracy and usage of the virtual simulation on apparel products.

ABSTRACT
Background Letters and texts are created when human beings have a willingness to express something through a process of thinking in a proactive way. Compared to the spoken language and the pictorial image, the character has the inherent advantage of transferring the universal thinking system to later generations and physically accumulating the information because of the nature of its objective meaning transfer recording system.
Methods In order to overcome the limitation of logical and systematic system of character symbols and to expand the use of characters, The tendency classification, analysis, and complementary relation between text and image, which have experimentally been connected experimentally in the complementary relationship between characters and images which can be considered as projection method of human thought and thought. This paper proposes a way to overcome the limitations of each information delivery system.
Result Characters and images have separately played separate roles as mediators that convey meaning and total narrative separately. There has been an experiment to overcome the limits of the symbolic / directive content transmission of the character itself through the form of concrete poetry and visual poetry, and the formative aesthetic basis for this has been the dislocation that emerged in the early 20th century political / An ideological basis can be found in the avant-garde art history. The areas of language / time / space are summed up so that readers can understand contents simultaneously by auditory, visual and spatial understanding of objects and contents.
Conclusion Characters as unoccupied symbol systems are complementary to the image of representation area, so that the result of expanding the scope of visual perception so that static objects can have visual energy as well as the complex nature of media.

ABSTRACT
Background Hangeul has carried out the role of core medium of outstanding korean image that replaces the chinese alphabet-based auspicious characters as the major material of cultural product designs of the past. Under this point of view, the study is made for the cases and status of cultural product of Hangeul motive to present the direction to facilitate the Hangeul cultural products and make correct advancement.
Methods The study is aimed for the characteristics of the Hangeul design expressed around the design cases of cultural product of Hangeul motive. In the study, together with type, size, color and etc of font, the comparative analysis is made on the layout formation, type of blank facilitation and etc to contribute to the advancement of the cultural product by facilitating Hangeul.
Result The result of the analysis of design for the cultural product of Hangeul motive is the design in expression method of the pattern type in gothic font of sans-serif line by using the consonant and vowel, namely, the phoneme. This is attributable to the fact that the phoneme may display the formation of Hangeul and Hangeul is the character of gothic-type in drawing, not the letters written by the brush. Furthermore, with respect to the expression method, this study shows that it prefers the layout of patterns to express the beauty of Hangeul in indirect ways rather than the design delivering the implication or message directly.
Conclusion In the cultural product design of Hangeul, the consonant vowel in the phoneme is facilitated to display its expression by making patterns in the gothic font of sans-serif line. It indicates that Hangeul is the phonogram to facilitate the base drawings to create the phoneme of characters that the phoneme is facilitated to make easy patterns as its characteristics. The cultural product design with Hangeul as the motive may be summarized in the key words of phoneme, gothic, and pattern. Furthermore, if the approach is made on the methodical aspect of design, the answer may be found in its patterns.
