A Study on Idea Conception for Modern Illustration Teaching

ABSTRACT
Today modern society expects original design and communication ability focusing on advanced knowledge while changing to the 21st century informative society through the industrial society. This means that the current age is requiring competitive ideas with creativity and originality in design activity. Design is comprehensive formative activity that is realized on the integration of purposiveness, aesthetic feature and economical efficiency. Original illustration conception comes from ideas, and systematized concepts filled with knowledge, experience and observation convey images graphically using various visual elements. Therefore, design is problem-solving process and its conclusion as a creative activity process, not creating formative feature itself. In the future, the foundation for illustration should be made so that it can improve systematic problem-solving ability in order to express own ability and creative idea with picture. As a foundation necessary for various expressive methods and idea conception, and the outcome of whole personality brain activities, it comes from sensitivity, intuition, inspiration and imaginative power. Hence, the current study aims to suggest learning methods such as classification of kinds, characteristics of expressive method, visual thought, etc. in an attempt to establish systems for illustration education and improve conception ability in order to use idea conception methods of illustration more concretely and induce conception of creative ideas with appropriate concepts. Accordingly, the purposes of the current study are to find out students` experimental and creative thinking and expression of objects through illustration and more efficient ways for conception, and to suggest creative conception methods to students through studying substantial use of illustration that has become one of professional areas to improve creativity in the rapidly changing modern society.

Urban Design and the Public Good in the American New Urbanism

ABSTRACT
This Study focuses on deducting the relativity of the public good to the corporeal characteristics in step-by-step instructions on urban design in the American New urbanism. New urbanism has ten basic principals. It has achieved by not imposing legal control but encouraging dwellers in their well-being that have their choice in the process of urban design. The keyword of the basic principals are mixed-use and walkability for rehumanizing. These design for union of society, and then have the public good that is self-sufficiency, activating of community by belonging, health and safety, ecological balance. Design of New urbanism has inherited algorithms for a long time and acclimate circumstances, express variety and complexity of history and culture. The elements of design derive optimums and show cohesive self-organization in the multiplicity of barred environment. New urbanism has the signification and suggestion for the public good. And then this study find the value and application method in Korean urban design.

A Research on Decorative Paper Flower of Buddhist Rituals

ABSTRACT
This study was aimed at comparing and analyzing the techniques and craftsmanship in the making of the decorative paper flowers for the two typical Buddhist Rituals, Su-ryuk-jae and Yeong-san-jae, the latter designated as the Important Intangible Cultural Property NO. 50. The paper flowers used in the Buddhist rites surpass any other kind in size and exquisiteness, thus acquiring the name of `jang-eum` or solemn decorations. The present study was based on a series of 14 studies on the traditional paper flowers in Korea presented by the author since 1981, but in this paper more emphasis was placed on the differences not only between the two rites but also in the craftsmanship and paper materials depending on the individual craftsman. There exist five prominent skill retainers for the Yeong-san-jae paper flowers: Hwang Eun-dong (Monk Wolhwa), Recluse Lee Gi-won, Lee Byeong-woo (Monk Kyeongam), Yun Jong-gyu (Monk Haewol) and Lee Ju-hwan (Monk Seokyong), where as Kim Tae-suk is the only technique retainer for Su-ryuk-jae. The results of the study are as follows: Hwang Eun-dong (Monk Wolhwa), makes twelve kinds including cloud flowers; Recluse Lee Gi-won seven including peonies; Lee Byeong-woo (Monk Kyeongam) has techniques for five kinds, including bush clovers; Yun Jong-gyu (Monk Haewol) holds skills for six kinds. Lee Ju-hwan (Monk Seokyong) retains techniques for making nine kinds of flowers besides big chrysanthemums. Kim Tae-suk specializing in the Su-ryuk-jae paper flowers has the expertise of making six different kinds of decorative flowers along with peonies. In conclusion, a total 45 different kinds of paper flowers are presently being produced by these representative artists. The techniques employed by the individual craftsman often share the same or similar names, but as the workmanship and techniques of the artists vary widely, their works denote these differences, thus strongly requiring us to restore the originality of the authentic forms and quality of paper flowers while stimulating the artists` creativity ever more.

ABSTRACT
With its high expansibility, animation business can create vast additive values and it is evaluated to make various window effects. Through creative production, its sales amount in and out of the country has increased showing its possibility of growth as a competitive business. However, domestic long piece animation is in stagnation. The purpose of this study is to find ways to improve competitiveness of domestic long-piece animation. It establishes the concept of a plot, which is the most fundermental element of a story-telling in animation, compares and analyses a success and a failure to learn a lesson. For the development of domestic long piece animation business, the most important thing is to make a product with a successful plot through accurate self diagnosis and proper analysis of the market. There`s a saying that if you know your enemy and know yourself, you can win every battle. Even if there`s no success yet, you should never give up and you don`t have to hurry to make a success. On the basis of accurate self diagnosis right to our situation and clear analysis you can make a success soon.

A Study on the Character Development for Sign Language Education Contents - Centering on Children with Hearing Impairments and Deafness-

ABSTRACT
To have sign language education is one of basic human rights to be owned since birth. It is a natural right for the people with hearing impairments and deafness to have as members of social community, but its perception is not enough in comparison with its importance. Sign language is a type of languages. Through it, users can communicate and obtain information. Its history began with appearance of human beings. Sign language in Korea began by Rosetta Sherwood Hall in 1909 and in 1913 Japanese sign language was introduced for institutionalized school education. In 1947, Korean finger spelling was created and in 1963, the first sign language textbooks were published. In 1982, standard dictionaries of sign language were published and in 1995, sign language textbooks were published by Korea Social Welfare Council for People with Hearing Impairments. Now, in the era of globalism and information-based society in the 21st century, we have to consider the necessity to develop new sign language contents. So, as characters has been perceived as multi-cultural industry, they can be positive and creative motives in development of contents. However, unlike general characters, a few standards should be presented for them. Much careful attention should be paid to visual features, modelling structure, operational system of contents, selection of delivering media. educational availability and distribution effect. It is undoubtful that human education should be done by humans. However, just as we obtain much information from books, mass-media, the Internet networks, and films and videos, contents development for sign language is to and should be designed to enhance educational efficiency as an ancillary role.

ABSTRACT
Generally, the `Camera View` mentioned in digital contents is divided into the `first person viewpoint` and the `third person viewpoint` and there are arguments upon the existence of the `second person viewpoint.` Some insist that the second person viewpoint is a combined form of the first person viewpoint and third person viewpoint. Other experts insist that the second person viewpoint does not actually exist and is only a variation of the third person viewpoint. The researcher thinks that the second person viewpoint possibly exists. However, the position is completely different with experts who have insisted the existence of the second point view. This study introduced the basis of the researcher`s thoughts and the actual examples in which the second person view appears in digital contents.

Effects of Internet Homepage Manufacturing Environment and the Firm`s Characteristics on Purchase Decision Making

ABSTRACT
The companies shall create the homepage satisfying the customers` characteristics as well as their own characteristics for effective advertising and marketing activities through the homepage. Thus, this study aims to identify the factors influencing on the selection of homepage creators. To this end, this study examined the causal relationship between the environmental factors of homepage creation and decision making process of homepage creation. Next, it will empirically verify the roles of parameters of corporate image and propensity of CEO related to the purchase decision making process. According to the results of research, the design quality, price and outcome of homepage have the significant impact on the purchase decision making process. In particular, the design quality had more impact on the purchase decision making process. For the corporate characteristics, the propensity of CEO and corporate image demonstrated the significant impact on the purchase decision, and especially the propensity of CEO showed more impact. In case of the mediating effect of corporate characteristics in the relationship with the environmental factors of production and purchase decision, only the corporate image indicated the significant relationship. While the technology and corporate capability couldn`t have direct impact on the purchase decision, the corporate image had impact on the purchase decision. The corporate image demonstrated the complete mediating effect in the relationship with the environmental factors of production and decision making.

ABSTRACT
This study examined the formative aspects of the earrings of Baekje Dynasty from the view point of artistic handicraft. The forms of composing Baekje earrings and the connecting parts as the basis for grasping formative characteristics are divided into four types of forms to be examined. The form of the pendants in the middle among the composing forms, there are Gonguchae, Gonwonpansanghyeong, cylinder form, Sohwanyeonjeopguchae , Sohwanyeonjeopbanguchae and Saseulhyeong. In the forms of Suhashik, there are Wonhyeong, Shimyeophyeong, Tanhwanhyeong, Sabihyeong and Gokokhyeong. Suhashik forms also showed slightly modified from each other. As the formative characteristics of Baekje earrings show some variations depending on the eras, this study analyzed the formative characteristics by classifying them into the eras: Hanseong Dynasty, Woongjin Dynasty and Sabi Dynasty. In the study on the artistry of Baekje earrings, the characteristics of earrings dating back to the Three Kingdoms period were compared to evaluate the aesthetics of Baekje earrings. In the comparative study of earrings dating back to the Three Kingdoms (Goguryeo, Baekje and Silla) and Gaya, some were found to be similar in form and style with the earrings reflecting each state`s culture and sensibilities and thus making them unique. Baekje earrings also reflect the unique Baekje culture, and are not visually gorgeous or do not encompass an excellent manufacturing technology unlike earrings of Silla and Gaya; however, their simple aesthetics is expected to blend well with the modern minimalist designs. This study was conducted to point out the danger that cultures of an era are evaluated in terms of their quantity and quality. Also, the manufacturing technology and visual aspects alone cannot be the yard to evaluate the value of metal artifacts, but such a value lies in the difference in the aesthetic viewpoint on sensibilities and culture of that era. A study from diverse aspects is expected to prevent the mistake of underrating the aesthetic value of those traditional artifacts.
